Hana Don Japanese Cuisine & Bar

First time here. All the seafood is fresh- you will not smell anything bad. I highly recommend the hanna Don roll that comes with fories gras ( duck fat) and caviar it was amazing! The best roll ever, tastes were amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming which made our experience while dinning-enjoyable. We will be back. Thank you

Really overpriced, below average food.
Below average for Toronto standard, and not acceptable for Japanese standard. Tried various kaisen don and pork katsu don, all really dissapointing.

We had a reservation for this quaint restaurant. The check in process was weird if you reserved online. We were put in the corner and almost... forgotten. Others who came in after were served before us. I had to get up for someone to address us. Food was tasty and filling. Not very attentive staff. Would get take out should I ever go back.

Vegetarian options: Lots to choose from. Not sure if there was a veggie broth for soups.

Wish they have more energy towards service, could be better

The food is overpriced, and the customer service is lacking. I waited five minutes to pick up my order even though my food was already ready. With only two servers on duty, it felt like they were more focused on looking busy than attending to customers. This visit has confirmed that I won't be coming back.

Unagi don - the unagi has lots of bones and it is more than usual. Thick and long.

Sashimi don - Not really fresh. Overpriced.

Service - great welcome by staff though nothing they could do on the unagi don bones issue. Just simply report to the chef.

Food was a hit or miss, didn't taste fresh or like anything special - especially for the price. Sushi & sashimi was ok, karaage oyako don was plain.

Service was meh - They overcharged me even when I inquired why the bill was higher than it was supposed to be, and said we could only pay cash... I asked for a receipt and they wouldn't give me one. I would not go back here again, even for takeout 😬

🍦 Personally, the parfait was super overpriced for ice cream and cereal... they had grass jelly but i'm disappointed there was no mochi or dango.

Sushi (including toro and uni sashimi) was just okay; would not order again. Gyudon and katsu dishes were worth it! Dessert parfait was a confusing medley of ingredients. Service was inattentive, but good once we got their attention.

Their menu changed since the last time I came, but overall their donburi remains the same. The food remained consistent, but I dropped to 3 stars because of the service. It was very slow and inconsistent. We waited for a waiter to take our order for 20 minutes. After they took our order, both of our dishes did not arrive at the same time, and we couldn't enjoy our mealstogether. It was very awkward when one of us is eating while the other is waiting. By the time my brother finished his meal, my meal came. I noticed this similar behaviour the last time I came when it took the waiters a long time to show up. We would have to flag them to get their attention. I would still come back, but their service needs to be changed for things to be consistent and run smoothly instead of making the customers wait.

The fish is very fresh and the seasoning is great. I recommend the aburi sushi, it is delicious. The aburi rice is also delicious. The waitress is very nice!

I had a great experience at this Japanese restaurant! I ordered the sashimi don, and it was fantastic. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the portion was generous, making it well worth the price. The presentation was beautiful, and each piece was perfectly cut and full of flavor. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes on the menu!
