IL FORNELLO - Bayview Village

I am writing this review to highlight the poor service I received here.
I originally came to this location to redeem a coupon for a vegetarian dish. The server Emon said that he was unable to process it in their POS system, even though it was a valid coupon. He said that he would make it up to us the next time we came back. I went back recently for my birthday and Emon was our server again, so I decided to mention what he said during our previous visit. He instructed me to write a review about it, so that is what I'm doing.

I will clarify that the food is usually good and I appreciate the variety of options for different dietary needs. I was just unimpressed by the quality of service at this location.

I have been to this location many times.
The only employee that is consistently outstanding is Amy the host!!! Every time we come , we wait longer than we should to be greeted by our server, no table checks are ever done.
Today in particular our server was awful in every way possible, a rookie at best. Did not know the steps of service, never offered refills, didn’t ask how we were doing. The only thing that saved this place is the food and Amy!!!

Service was attentive without being invasive. Food was fresh, flavourful and reasonably priced. Atmosphere was comfortable, spacious and not too loud. We had a great lunch, thank you!

Service was all right, but the pizza was absolutely fantastic!

Pizza tastes like what we had at Naples. Not exactly but very near that taste.

I ordered a carbonara that was everything but a carbonara. It was pure oil and cream and it was too heavy it didn’t taste good. I think they should maybe rename the dish because it leads you to believe it’s a traditional carbonara but all the ingredients speak otherwise.

I came here more than 7 years ago I think and ate the vegan pizzas and it was lovely. I came back again today and was impressed by the quality, atmosphere and food. This place is worthwhile a visit 🩷 Thank you to our server Emon for taking care of us and accommodating our specific requests for pizza. Great service and gorgeous aesthetic. Thank you!!

Dropped in here looking for something easy and found a much better meal that we expected. Genuine wood pizza oven, nice ambiance and great service. Really surprised, in a good way (picture added just before closing, that's why it looks empty!)

The mushroom risotto is way too creamy and salty, I was expecting light taste. The server treated me a basket of baguette and olive oil and balsamic. It will be better if the bread warmed up a little, although it’s on the house. As for the dessert, to clean the heavy sauce in the mouth, the raspberry sorbet is tooooo sweet, maybe the lemon sorbet with zest could be the better idea. At the end of the, a chamomile relief my tongue.
It’s been 22 years back to this restaurant again. Things changed, food changed, people changed, but memories still there.
