Tried to find a place to meet up with friends near/at yorkdale that I could eat at as someone with celiac disease. With a Google search, JOEY came up as a top choice for gluten free, however, I would NOT recommend if you have celiac disease or gluten intolerance. They have extremely limited options for gluten free food. I ended up getting the cheeseburger with the gluten free bun and had the waitress verify the rest of the meal was gluten free, which she said it was, but the burger came out with no sauce on it and was super dry. She then told me the aioli had gluten in it??? Why offer a gluten free substitute if the meal has gluten. And they didn’t even offer a substitute like mayo. I was just served a dry burger which didn’t even taste good at all. Obviously they don’t use a gluten free fryer for fries either, as I had a reaction to the food on my way home. They just don’t seem to take allergies seriously at all, which was disappointing. I’ve often been to restaurants where the manager will come out and ensure you your meal will be allergen free and offer you a choice of various menu items that they can make gluten free. A lot of the options the waitress recommended to me as “gluten free” had potential ingredients with gluten in them (e.g. miso dressing).
Wasn’t great food and was so overpriced, but the experience was not too bad overall. Our waitress was nice and the service was alright. Just wanted to offer a warning to all those with celiac disease to go somewhere else. Not sure why this comes up a good option for gluten free on Google.
Celebrated an Engagement at JOEY Yorkdale last night and had the most amazing night. From the minute we walked in Liz (VIP experience) & Megan (our server) made sure we were taken care of and even treated us to champagne and dessert. Highly recommend going there to celebrate a big night with friends. Best experience I could have asked for!!! ❤️ thank you
