Place was pretty empty but it did not disappoint at all. Food was great and service was greater (shoutout to George). I would advise to not listen to the 1 star reviews because they lied when I came here.

Had dinner at Laterna Greek Restaurant in Thornhill this evening with my wife. We both had the lamb souvlaki and shared the garlic bread, which was excellent. Jess had rice, I had fries, and I remembered why I love this place. It is a long-standing staple for good reason.

I have been eating Laterna for 15+ years, mostly take out and I haven’t sat there for a few years now. I decided to go tonight and the service was horrible. It took 35 minute to take our order ( no one even said anything to us from the point we were seated) and forever to get our food once we finally did order. No one came to check on us between to the point that I said maybe we should just ask for our bills when we receive the meal since we don’t know when they will next come back. The man that works there is extremely rude and was muttering under his breath about our children in the end who got restless from it taking so long. It was honestly the worst customer experience. The food is still good there but not worth the frustration of the service.

I have been here before, nice neighborhood restaurant with decent prices. We were seated quickly, waitress comes over and pours water and leaves, comes back a few minutes later, my friend ordered steak and shrimp, waitress had to clarify with kitchen if available...it was, when ordering the waitress who obviously doesnt know the menu did not ask for the side option(rice, baked potato or fries) we had to adk and did not ask how we wanted the supposedly 8oz steak cooked, i ordered lamb souvlaki. No drinks or appetizers were ordered because none were offered. Not even can i get you a drink. The food did not come together despite them being similar in cooking time, i got my lamb first and i will tell you it looked more like charcoal bricks than nice juicy lamb, i tried to wait politely for my friend's order but she encouraged me to start eating, when i cut into the lamb it was so overcooked it was sad that this even made ut to the plate, no quality control, i never send stuff back if i can stop it but this was really bad, i flagged down the other waitress who we recognized from an earlier visit and she asked me if i wanted something else, i said i wanted new souvlaki, my friend still didnt have her food. A couple of minutes later they brought my friend's food and my old plate with the rice and salad so that i would have something to eat while waiting for my new lamb...i think complimentary fries or small salad wouldve been more inline here while i wated and got a fresh plate of food...anyway, my friend's food was also overcooked but at this poing we didnt want to be those people, i finished my rice and salad and i had to flag down the waitress to see where my meat was, she went to check and the lamb was on the table in about 30 seconds so it was obviously sitting there...this time actually edible. We finished eating and no coffee or dessert was offered. The waitresses obviously did not want to be there and were putting in minimal effort. Sad for a longtime neighborhood restaurant. I usually top 18-29%, not tonight. I gave the tax only because i didnt want thd waitresses to lose money on tip out. The bare basics of servic like drinks and quality checks were never offered or asked. Not once even after i sent thd food back did i get anything resembling a food check and the only time our original server came back to the table was when we paid. I hope Laterna reads this review and fixes their service problems because it was once a nice place to eat.

I had food delivered to my home. The food was great, so I called the restaurant to thank them for the great food. The man who answered was so rude! I asked if the manager was in and he said no, so I asked if I could leave a message about how great the food was, and he yelled at me 'I don't take messages! And before I could even say anything, he hung up on me...UNREAL!!
I called back and a lady answered. I told her what happened and she apologized, saying it's busy. BUSY does not mean you can be extremely mean to customers who are trying to say something nice to you!!
