I had a great experience at Michi sushi — the service was warm and friendly, and the food was excellent. The sushi was fresh and flavourful, and the 911 roll was the clear standout with its perfect balance of heat and texture. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for delicious sushi and welcoming service.

Michi is THE HIDDEN GEM tucked away in Willowdale and Sheppard. IMHO, Michi can compete against all the high end Japanese restaurants in the DTWN, North York, Markham and Thornhill area because of the quality of ingridents they use and the unforgettable umami taste. The place isn't the biggest (very cozy). The current owner took over the place 8 years ago (before it was a Izakaya as long as I can remember) and Michi have been the night out, meeting place, and gathering with friends place. Starting from Appertizer to dessert, there isn't a item on the menu my wife and I don't enjoy. They added some seasonal/new items on their menu and honestly, never fails and never disappoints. Friends and colleagues we introduced to Michi, drive from DTWN. One of the our favourite item on the menu? Spicy seafood Udon in a hot boiling clay pot.

Last night I had sushi here and honestly… what an experience.
We ordered the Sushi Dinner Deluxe. I saved my favorite
part
the 6 pieces of spicy salmon rolls to enjoy at the end. When I finally got to them, I found a hair in my food. I told the server right away. She said they could remake it, but I didn’t want the whole dinner again since I didn’t like the main dish, only the rolls. Remaking it would’ve just been a waste, so we ordered something else instead.
And guess what? At the end, the original meal was still on the bill. We had to pay for the full dinner even though I couldn’t eat the last six rolls.
Amazing service!!!
Disappointing experience.
We ordered the 18-piece dinner platter. The sushi was fresh but honestly wasn’t great. Then we found a hair on the sushi, told the staff right away, and said we didn’t want the platter anymore. We ordered three signature rolls instead, which cost more than the platter.
When the bill arrived, they told us they were giving us ice cream “on the house,” but then said they didn’t actually have any, and despite that, they still charged us for the platter that had hair in it. Their explanation was that because we ate “more than 50%,” they couldn’t remove it.
Hair in food is a health and safety issue, and any respectable restaurant would remove the item from the bill without argument. Instead, they made excuses and charged us anyway.
Average food, hygiene concerns, and disappointing customer service.
Would not return.

Such a calm and cozy atmosphere it really feels like a small sushi bar from Japan right here in Toronto! 🇯🇵✨ I absolutely love sushi, and this was by far the freshest and most delicious I’ve ever had. Everything was perfect! 😍 The open kitchen makes it feel trustworthy and authentic!̆̈!̆̈ I’ll definitely be coming back again soon! 🍣

The restaurant’s atmosphere evokes the feeling of dining in an authentic Japanese izakaya, complemented by attentive and courteous service from the staff. We ordered three Deluxe Sashimi Sets and one portion of Chicken Karaage. The sashimi was exceptionally fresh and flavorful, beautifully presented with great attention to detail. Unfortunately, the fried chicken was a disappointment—it tasted more like McDonald’s McNuggets than traditional Japanese karaage.
As a birthday gesture, the restaurant offered a complimentary Polaroid photo and a chef’s special baked corn with cheese, which was delightful. Additionally, there’s a 10% discount for cash payments. Overall, this spot is worth visiting if you’re in the North York area.

I am shocked to see the positive reviews. As a Japanese person, I do not expect authentic Japanese in the GTA unless they are fine dining or real omakase and especially ones that are managed by non-Japanese owners but most people including myself are expecting reasonable pricing to the quality and portion. I understand with the rising costs of living, costs are going up but the price here is ludicrous compared to the quality and portions. Inconvenient location with no parking doesn’t help either. Slow service, atmosphere was uncomfortable, heard the chef yell not making a good impression, the pictures of customers on the walls are chaotic and the tables are too close together strangers can hear our conversation. For the price, you could get better quality, service and atmosphere elsewhere.

Ordered sushi and sashimi for two. Super fresh fish, nicely presented, and good variety. Everything tasted clean and well-balanced — you can tell they use high quality fish.

Michi Sushi is a small sushi spot in the Willowdale neighbourhood and honestly, I loved every single moment I’ve been in this restaurant.
The staff greet you with a big smile, very attentive services and the kitchen staff were lovely and efficient.
I ordered the soft shell crab roll and safe to say, it looks as good as it tastes. They even provided a on the house crab congee for everyone to try out that night. Even though it’s not included in the photo, safe to say I absolutely loved the congee and it made my experience so much better!
This place is a local hidden gem. Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for better quality sushi and a great and special time with your loved ones. ❤️

Very friendly service and good atmosphere. Reminds me alot of the izakayas in Japan. The sushi, sashimi, and hand rolls are excellent. The sides and tempura are not as good so I would recommend sticking with the sushi sets.
