Only giving this a 4 star because as a business owner I understand the importance of not messing up people’s google review score but this was the WORST Waakey I ever had in my life. I’m a Nigerian and I appreciate Ghanian food but this was so bad. The fish was stale, the beef was hard and they wouldn’t switch out my cow foot cause it cost ā€œmoreā€ for them. You would think that for $30 I would expect a decent meal. The rice was horrible my goodness. I’ve had way better Waakey from other Ghanian restaurants for more than half the price of this place. 2/5 rating for me.

Very busy service and very friendly people, only at the end there was a misunderstanding with the order, but they solved everything well

They didn’t even have fufu available, even though the kitchen was still open for two more hours. I came specifically for that side, so it was really frustrating.

A great reflection of what a Ghanaian restaurant could be! šŸ‡¬šŸ‡šŸ‡¬šŸ‡šŸ‡¬šŸ‡

The food was decent. Done well. What especially surprised me was the variety of authentic Ghanaian dishes on the menu. Sobolo? Ice Kenkey? Emuntuo? Wow...

The decor was thoughtful and classy, down to the hardware in the washrooms. It was clean too.

The service was professional and friendly. I like the uniforms/merch too.

Ayekoo guys!

Food was great. Love the portions. Only thing I would advise is to separate the stew from the shito. Get portable containers to keep the stew and shito in them as not everyone is comfortable having all two on the main dish

A nice place to enjoy some good finger licking Ghanaian dishes. Especially the waakye.

I will say that this is definitely better than the one Ghanaian good place back in Edmonton, Alberta. This place is better in so many ways.

The customer service was really good. The one Girl who was working that day was very friendly and exceptional and does a great job. Very interactive too. That's a good asset for business and for customers. This is not too much an issue, but at the same time, I'm still determining, but since this gives restaurant vibes, I would have anticipated water to be free. No matter, it was only 99 cents. WHICH in many places these days you pay more than $2.50 just for bottled water. So not really an issue with the restaurant, but I somehow thought water like in restaurants would be free.

The food was great overall. Some parts of the chicken did taste a little overcooked, but it was still good overall. Ideally, I would love to come back again when I come back to Toronto. I wish we had Ghanaian restaurants as good as this one in Edmonton. This one is a great one all around. Not perfect, but I also liked how clean the atmosphere was, the ghanaian music they play in the background as if you're back home, and the nature of the place. Would definitely come again.

I’ve traveled to many major cities across North America, and I always make it a point to find a Ghanaian restaurant. Nyamekye Restaurant in Toronto stands out as the best I’ve come across. From the moment I walked in, I was met with a warm welcome and genuine hospitality. The space is clean, spacious, and has a great atmosphere.

Now the food—absolutely incredible! Every dish I tried was packed with authentic flavor. A big shoutout to Chef Boatemaa for the amazing culinary experience. What truly sets Nyamekye apart, though, is their top-tier customer service. Friendly, attentive, and professional—it’s their secret ingredient.

Highly recommend if you’re ever in Toronto and craving Ghanaian cuisine!
