Spoiled Watermelon, Rude Owner, and No Accountability – Will Never Return

I had a very disappointing experience at Pat Mart, and I hope others will think twice before shopping here.

My mom bought a watermelon during a recent visit. We were excited to share it with our family. But when we cut it open, the inside was spoiled — parts were mushy, and others were pale and discolored. It was clearly not edible and should never have been sold in that condition.

We brought it back to the store right away, hoping for a refund or at least an exchange. The person at the counter told us they couldn’t take it back because we had already cut it. When we asked to speak with the owner or manager, the woman responded, “I’m the owner, and I’m not allowing any return.” That was it — no apology, no willingness to even acknowledge that selling spoiled produce is a problem.

It was clear she just wanted to keep the $10, even if it meant selling spoiled food to a customer. That attitude says everything about how this place is run. If a store refuses to stand by the quality of its products and hides behind excuses, how can anyone trust them?

It’s not just about the watermelon — it’s about the principle. If something goes wrong, you’ll get no fairness, no support, and no accountability here.

I won’t be returning, and I strongly encourage others to be cautious — especially when buying fresh produce at Pat Mart.

The soup basically was not flavourful, and the pork bone soup supposed to be packed with Korean spicy flavour. The pork items were ok, and noodle was not bad.

Don’t order food from here. Kanppunggi was all fat.

Very nice place and lady store staff! There is a small restaurant inside to order fresh food. We bought jajjangmyeon $9.99 and tangsuyuk $13.99. It tasted very good and nice portions. The jajjangmyeon leans sweeter than what I’m used to but good nonetheless!

I threw away the jajangmyeon because of the smell of Chinese spices, not the jajangmyeon taste at all. How did you make the sauce for the sweet and sour pork? I think they just put in the chili pepper paste sauce,(간장고추 짱아치 소스) but the sauce came cold and I poured the sauce, and the food became cold and I threw it all away. I don't think I'll ever eat it again. I'm so disappointed.

They know how to pick watermelons

The groceries are fine and I don’t want to criticize their whole business, but I recently bought their hobak juk (pumpkin soup) and it was the worst I’ve ever tried. Right out of the package, it was a goopy weird texture with very thick glutinous clumps which I originally thought was sticky rice cake that comes with some variations, but it appears to just be sweet rice flour that hasn’t been mixed properly and clumped in the soup. The first pic is before heating, second is after.

I was not expecting such bad quality from a store that has an in-house restaurant/takeout section. I’ve tried their gimbaps before which were fine, but this soup is horrible. Maybe it was a bad batch, I’m not sure.

Please, if you wanna try Korean pumpkin soup, get it from either Bonjuk, Galleria, or the Thornhill PAT Supermarket (these ones I’ve tried and they’re all consistently good).

What ever you do avoid getting food from this place. They serve old food that smells . Got pig feet and rice from here that smelt rotten . I wrote a one star review on uber eats to report how horrendous the scent was they sent me back a very unprofessional message telling me that I should’ve gave the driver a one star. I’m sorry the food is bad step up your food game and cleanliness.

Terrible, I’ve never had such a bad food in my life. The rice cakes are black, it looks like is rotten. Not chewy at all, a totally hard stick. I tried a bit of the jajamyeon and then threw away. money wasted 😭

This was delivery with uber eats, don’t know how is the dine-in or groceries in the store at all. But I don’t recommend ordering online that’s a sure thing.

My local Korean convenience store is a gem!

The staff is always adorable, and create a welcoming atmosphere.
They offer fresh ready-to-eat meals for those busy days, and the prices on drinks and ice cream are incredibly affordable.
*As a student, I appreciate that everything is budget-friendly.* 🤗

I go there all the time—it's truly convenient and I love it!

Some products are only available at PAT and you won’t find them at Hmart or Galleria. Plus, PAT feels slightly cheaper as well.

I asked a friend to by ground beef on her way, she bought this and dropped it off. It’s expensive but I thought it must have been fresh and good quality, but I was wrong. I know fresh meat color is pink, this is way darker than it should and surprisingly when I tried to compact it in to a solid mass but it doesn’t stick together and it breaks in to pieces! And it doesn’t smell like meat! Will never shop here again. We try to return it for sure
