The reason why I didn't like this place is I walked in there and I was totally ignored and they served other people and they did not serve me, she didn't need to ask me hi, welcome to the store.Oh, how are you doing?I just left very disappointed.

Experienced 2 horrible services here. First time me & partner came, server didn't even write our order & just tried to wing it on her mind. Got all of our order wrong. Tried to give it another chance. This time waiting to get a table. Even tho we where the 1st to arrive & first to list our names in the waitlist, they kept accepting other groups in because they knew these people personally. I'm filipino myself, but I've never experienced such horrible hospitality than this place. I thought we where known for that? Would never come back.

I was surprised to see so many negative reviews, because my girlfriend and I actually had a really nice time dining here. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the food overall was flavorful and satisfying. It felt like a great spot to enjoy a relaxed meal together. That said, there are a couple of areas where things could improve. The servers, while polite, weren’t as attentive as we would have liked — we occasionally found ourselves waiting for refills and check-ins. Also, my soup had an undercooked potato, which stood out in an otherwise tasty dish. Even with those minor issues, our overall experience was solid, and I’d definitely be willing to come back to give it another try.

My favorite Filipino restaurant, my wife’s Filipina and she approves. Love the sisig so much and the skewers are always delicious.

We went today Thursday September 11, 2025 to watch Jinky Vidal perform and the start time was supposed to be 7pm. We live in Hamilton so we headed early to North York to miss the traffic. We got to Republika at 6:30pm, they told us to wait outside, because they weren't ready yet. By the time we went inside to sit down it was past 7:30pm and the concert started at almost 8pm.
We ordered the food, the barbecue and drinks got there first. The other food, we waited two hours before it came. Service was really slow and almost non existent, we had to really get the server's attention just to get our orders in.

This will be the first and last time we are going to this place. It's not worth it at all. At least we had fun shopping at Yorkdale and Jinky's concert was really good. Just the place wasn't so don't expect too much. Food and drinks were okay.

Food’s good when it’s actually available, but this place embodies the worst traits of Filipino businesses abroad - lazy or flat-out unprepared. Imagine walking into a Filipino restaurant on a Friday night, only to be told the only thing they can serve is French fries. Tell me, what self-respecting Filipino goes out to eat fries at a Filipino spot — no matter how much they ‘Filipino-fy’ it?

I and my friends experienced unprofessional service from the bald staff member. He took our order, even repeat it to him but served an incorrect dish without offering any apology. Furthermore, he presented a sizzling plate without providing any warning or safety precaution, which reflects a disregard for both customer service standards and guest safety.

I came here on a Friday night with a large group. We were put in the patio area where there was a DJ spinning music. The inside dining had live music. The Filipino food was delicious!!! We ordered kare-kare, lechon, pancit canton, pampino fish, squid, and a lot more. The music and vibe was good. The service was average, we had to look and call for our server a couple times. The black chairs definitely need to be replaced, they were sunken in (your butt would be sitting on the bottom support bar). I definitely want to come back for the food.

First timer, that evening had live entertainment, singer playing guitar, he was wonderful.
A friend and mine tried a few dishes to share.
I'm not sure of the names of the dishes, so I will do my best to discribe them .
We had a couple of orders of the rice, we had a veggie dish (oddly named) as this had squash, long beans ( green beans), coconut milk, prawns and pork belly. It was fantastic.
Next we had 2 large skewers of pork that was cooked outside over charcoal grill great flavor and taste..then we also shared a soup made with chicken and Bok Choy.
Very generous amounts of chicken, broth was delicious.
The patrons ranged from families, to people on a night out very diverse.
Everyone seemed happy and enjoying themselves

Very displeased at the service we've received at Republika. My boyfriend and I have gone here on separate occasions and each time have received subpar service.

On my first visit, I was told the BBQ pork skewers were good so we wanted to have a seat on the patio to try it out and enjoy it. Not one person came by to greet us so we had to flag someone down to which they just tossed us a menu then left. Mind you, we went on a weekday afternoon so the place was not super busy.

The second time we've gone, the waiter continued to take our order wrong even after kindly informing him that we were brought the incorrect item to which he spoke something under his breath in annoyance.

I truly wanted to like this place however the service has been really frustrating for me to enjoy my experience.

Love all of the very tasty foods we ordered, especially the Pork with Bagoong or Shrimp Paste and the Ox Tails Kare Kare. Vibrant positive atmosphere with a great and very talented live band!

Looking for Filipino food? This spot’s worth checking out.
Big portions—great for sharing with the fam or the barkada.
Taste-wise? Kinda hit or miss. Some dishes were solid, others just okay.
Live music inside adds a nice touch—Filipinos always bring the vibes.
Outside DJ can be a bit much—too loud and the playlist needs a refresh.
It gets pretty packed on weekends, so plan ahead.
Their BBQ options? Definitely a win.

Good place to start if you’re exploring Filipino eats.

It was so good! Got the sisig, brother got the Kawali, and momma got the kare kare. Definitely would go here again! Prices can differ depending on what you get, but it was worth it!
