I booked a high tea session at Ruelo McNicoll and here’s my honest review:I found the food a bit dry - it didn’t taste fresh. It was accompanied by a small cup of coffee, which I did like. However, I found it strange that there wasn’t a pot of coffee/tea or courses of different teas to accompany each layer of the tower - this is just what I’ve experienced from high tea at other cafes. In terms of atmosphere and service:The entire building was empty. The server who gave us our food was nice, however we never saw her again afterwards. No one checked in on us.Overall, the whole experience felt awkward so I just packed up the food and ate the rest in my car. I feel regretful that I spent $113 on this :(

At $78 for a 7"x7" inch cake, it is not cheap but their cakes are definitely a cut above comparable Asian cakeries so I guess we are paying for quality. The various layers with the crunchy base creates an assortment of textures in one bite, a bite that's worth $1.59 a square inch ?. Convenient online ordering system.

This is mostly a warehouse/private venue location than a cafe. Was able to get a delicious cake very last second, but they keep on hand inventory very low. I highly recommend placing the order online a few days in advance.

Don’t hold your expectation for service as high as the cakes.

I have always liked their cakes. However, their service is horrendous. They don’t own up to their mistakes ever. I had ordered a birthday cake for my sister a day prior last year and when I went to pick it up, I found out that they had forgot to put my order in the system and ended up giving me a frozen cake along w two croissants to make it up for that. Still gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered this year again and guess what, they did the exact same thing and did not acknowledge as always. Horrible horrible service. This would be my last cake from them. Never ordering again. There are tonnes of bakeries out there that would give you the option of a good service with the amount you pay over here. Stay away!

Ordered a 5-inch Mango Almond. The real thing is different from the picture, but it’s very delicious?

On Saturday I walk in to pick up an mini cake only Mini Daisy was available she went to the back to grab it for me. There was nothing display in the front or any signs of pricing. I notice when I went home I was over charge when I check the price online it was only $12.00 not including tax and the lady just charge me $15.00 in total. Was kinda disappointed being overcharged and there was red sticky coating all over the box. Bad experience at this location I wouldn't come back.

If you love french cake.with praline, this place will elevate your expectation, not too sweet, has a crunch in the bottom. The negative side is expensive and small.

Terrible place, cakes are decent but very overpriced. Main point to bring up, if you are ethical I would not support this place. They treat part timers like trash and don’t pay us properly, throughout my time working here you get talked down on constantly despite lack of training and they do this to multiple part timers. Other people have the same experience on Glassdoor. Would not recommend supporting this business, also they never issue refunds. So when buying a cake make sure it’s the cake you want cause they will not offer you a refund. Also the plastic holder for the mini cakes that you have there are all reused. They said they want to cut costs so they reuse those for most of the high tea sets/mini cakes. You’re better off going to daan go, Duo patisserie, manzou bakery or lala bake shop. They’re all Asian owned, with great prices and amazing cakes.

Newly renovated and rebranded to Truelove.I use to come here to pick up Ruelo patisseries so always knew this location was here. I didn't know that they rebranded to become Truelove though. Ordered high tea sets online as takeaway and came to pick it up. Upon arrival, it was empty and kind of looked like they were still under renovations with no displays of cakes/ pastries in their glass display. The space is beautiful from what I can see and can't wait to see what the finished product will look like. I was warmly greeted and asked to please sit and wait for my pick up order. The nice lady working there insisted that I sit and have some tea while I waited. Shortly after waiting, she then gave me some cookies to go with my tea - super nice! After having some tea and cookies, the high tea sets (we got 3) were finally ready to take home. It came in a cute pink dome covering so I couldn't see what was inside The high tea items were a lot smaller than expected, but they were definitely tasty! There were some spaces that didn't have food in it. Scones were really good with the butter and jam. Overall the items itself were really good and tasty but a little expensive for what it was. It was $120 for a high tea set meant for 2 people. Also note mentioning that they forgot to give us any tea with this set (stated on their website when purchasing). Overall, it was still a nice experience with tasty items. Just a little pricey and items are on the smaller scale.

Amazing Manager, Pat is super talented, smart , friendly, and super sweet. It was a privilege that I got a chance to know Pat. She is super hard working, and she knows her stuffs. I love her passion and amazing energy. To top of it, I love their cake.I originally ordered 1 cake because of her passion. I ended up ordering 3 cake. My best friend took me out for high-end afternoon tea, and the location is by Victoria and McNicoll. I love the location❤ last pic. The pink mini cake was bonus courtesy from Pat. Feel so blessed. This item is not for sale. That is too bad, but I have an honor to be able to try. Mangoes favor to die for. Omg some of the arts on the other cake are stunning and unique with beautiful ? and I know it is yummy ? in their own favorite ? highly recommend ???

Toronto's long-established high-end dessert cake shop Ruelo opened a sister store in Scarborough〖Truelove Tea Atelier〗The new store has a new style. We have invited Gregory Doyen, a French ?? celebrity chef who is as handsome as a Hollywood star, and Gimmick!~French afternoon tea full of ritual! There are three floors!Afternoon tea starts from bottom to top, there are seafood and wagyu beef, and the dessert with Christmas atmosphere on the top floor is especially delicious, with moderate sweetness.
