z-teca Mexican Eatery (York Lanes)

We stopped by at York Lanes and had an excellent experience. We ordered the “Veggie Crumble” bowl with extra protein and guac on the side, along with quesadillas loaded with cheese and veggie fajitas. Everything tasted incredibly fresh - the toppings were crisp, the portions were generous, and the veggie crumble had great flavour and texture.

What stood out just as much as the food was the customer service. The staff was friendly, patient, and made sure everything was prepared exactly the way we wanted. She was quick, attentive, and made the whole experience smooth even during a busy time.

Overall, great food, great value, and great people.

Definitely a spot we will be returning to when we are on campus 🌯

First of all, how are you charging someone $2.50 for a spoon of guac. Secondly, the rice was absolutely disgusting. It was old and tasted as if it was cooking in coconut milk for hours (did not taste like rice). The cheese was also very old and the sour creams texture felt runny!! Its like they mixed older ingredients with water or something else to continue using it. Service was crappy as well. I only eat here because I appreciated the halal chicken but what's the point of ordering here if you are so stingy with your ingredients. The point of the bowl is to add whatever you want on it and then you pay for the protein. I was about to get charged for adding a different salsa (one salsa only). Anyway, this place was horrible. A few years ago when the staff was different, it was good and the PICO DE GALA WAS FRESH. Now everything taste OLD and as if YOU MADE IT T HOME. Do not recommend at all! I paid almost $20 for a chicken bowl. I could have went to chipotle and paid less and received more.

I love the food here

I ordered a chicken burrito bowl that comes with beans and corns included in the price, I told the worker I didn’t want beans and corns and if I got could more chicken instead. They told me I could but when I went to pay they said it didn’t matter and that it’s double chicken and I had to pay extra. This is my second time having a bad experience with the employees since they didn’t disclose I would have to pay extra. Food is good but they are sneaky.
