All beautifully cooked and the curry sauce was good to. Fresh fish, nice batter, properly cooked chips. Friendly and efficient people. Recommended.

Delicious!

Great takeaway with good quality Halal and vegetarian options. They do a range of dishes including beef sausages, calamari, mozzarella sticks and halloumi fries.

We ordered fish and chips as a treat one evening but were really disappointed. The food arrived 40 minutes later than expected and was cold and soggy. We had to reheat everything in the microwave. Once we did eventually sit down to eat, the food was bland and we actually struggled to eat it - definitely not a ‘treat’. Watery mushy peas, chewy inedible batter and hard overcooked sausages, not to mention the pale, undercooked chips. We have been offered a free replacement meal but I don’t think we’ll subject ourselves to it! In future we shall order from Royalls as we have always had a good meal delivered from them.

Several restaurants in Norwich are seen as 'best in class; including one or two fish and chip shops but this 'chippy' beats the lot and they'll even do your fish/chips as you like them - for example, extra crispy. Very pleasant people. If you're not a big eater go for the smaller cod and chips offering.

We ride all over Southern Ontario looking for fry shacks to eat at. This is definitely a return to place. The seasoning on the fish is hard to describe but taste absolutely great.

I think it’s fair to say there are people on Magdalen Street who know about food & then there are those of us who enjoy eating it! From Dhaba at 15 to Ruth’s Kitchen, from Cafe Malaga’s to The Artichoke and every other culinary delight in between, you wouldn’t think you could be anymore spoilt for choice....but we can! The Fish N Chip Shop is superb, putting it lightly, it’s fish and chips done well, very well! My husband isn’t a fan of fish and chips, to be more specific, he’s not a fan of fish and chips from anywhere else other than here! Light thin batter, not greasy, not soggy, what’s not to like. An excellent addition to an already amazing menu of restaurants and take aways served with a welcoming smile. We wish them the best of luck.

Best fish & chips in the area

Magdalen Street is renowned in Norwich for great Indian food (Personal favourite is Dhaba 15) but Fish and Chips surely not! Pleasantry surprised by how good it was. Including a small but varied fish menu with unexpected things like Tiger Prawns and Sea Bass . Plus as opposed to many others in Norwich they have actually remained open for orders, personal collections and Take Away during the Covid 19 crisis. Providing us with a bit of much needed normality within all the insanity that is going on around us. Highly recommended and maybe a quick tip, it's seriously rude and makes you look like an idiot to moan on sites like this, if you haven't already asked them to try to deal with any issues you have at the time. They only opened in September 2019 and are doing their very best in very difficult Corona Virus circumstances.

Despite the bold statement on their website, this is NOT the best fish n chip shop in Norwich. We ordered online for collection. When we arrived food wasn't ready, it hadn't even started cooking. We ordered fish and chips, a chicken burger and a veggie burger - the fish was overcooked and greasy, and tasted like it had been fried 6 hours earlier, the 'Chicken Fillet Burger' looked and tasted as though it had never seen a chicken in it's life (photo added, not sure where the 'fillet' bit comes from) and the veggie burger came smothered in cheese and mayo, even though this wasn't mentioned on the menu - this left us with a very hungry dairy free diner. They are trading purely on price, using cheap ingredients - Stick to chips. Hugely disappointing.

Good fish and chips and friendly staff. Worth noting that they are extremely busy at the moment (understandably).
