Went here specifically for halibut and chips late lunch. We were promptly greeted by our server and sat at our table of choice (only ones in the restaurant @ 2pm).Nice little ambience to this place, with a creek flowing across the back of the property. Our orders were taken and the food arrived hot about 10 minutes later.Halibut batter and fries were over cooked and very dark in color, I suspect they were cooked in old oil and did not have a fresh taste.2 orders of 1 piece halibut and chips with coleslaw, 2 bottles of beer came out to $ 72 dollars plus tip !Unfortunately, I have had far superior Halibut and chips elsewhere for less money!

This was my second time at Jack's in Norwood. The staff was nice but the food isn't tge best. One person at my table got the half chicken, the chicken was OK but that's about it. I don't like being negative about places but they need some improvement.

I usually don’t complain but this restaurant deserves 0 out of 5 stars. Eating there tonight was a really bad experience for my family and I. When we entered the restaurant, it looked clean enough but it was super hot. The kids highchair was greasy and had food on it from the previous user. Then when we ordered, they didn’t have any of the fish we wanted (the cheapest fish) which is neither here nor there, we ordered the next best and next more expensive, the haddock. It took a while which wasn’t an issue, but then when it came out, the pieces were very thin and looked super dark and shrivelled up, I was thinking maybe the grease was old but after seeing other peoples plates, their fish did not look like this. My daughter’s chicken fingers were so tough I couldn’t even pull them apart with my fingers I literally had to reef on them to rip them apart they were so full of tendons - and also seemingly burnt. Their fries were super dry and seemed like they had been sitting for hours. When we politely brought this up to our server, the response we got was “oh, okay. Really. Okay.”. No mention of compensation or replacement at all and the bill came to $100.00 for literally inedible food. Our server also never came back and checked in on us until the very end. I rely heavily on good reviews from restaurants to see whether or not I would go so please know I would not leave this review if it weren’t true. This place is not good.. please do not waste your time or money. ?

Great Halibut and chips, good portion size, excellent breading, tasty chips and tartar sauce. Beers cold and service is good. Will stop by again.

One of the worst fish meals I ever had. Got special fish ,fries, coleslaw and salad. Fish came out really dark and greasy looking. Tried to get it cut it and the breading was so hard you couldn't stab it with your fork. Broke it in half and the inner filet was really greasy. When waitress asked how meal was i told her it was greasy and way overcooked. Ate some fries salad and coleslaw and left fish. She took $5:00 of the bill but for a restaurant who specializes in fish this was unacceptable and the meal should have been free. This place was empty at noon on a Sunday and now I know why

Stopped on the way back from a quick hunting trip as we had been driving past this place for months and kept saying we had to stop one day.All I can say is best ribs I have ever had in Canada. Didn’t even have to touch them, just fell of the rib. Great sauce too. Felt like the mashed potatoes left a bit to be desired, but the ribs were so good I can’t dock a star over them. Thanks! Will be back again!

My partner ordered a chicken club wrap. Chicken had a texture like it was out of a can, and the dressing was a bit strange for a club wrap. Not too appealing. I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich. It was 4 chicken nuggets on a bun with lettuce, tomato and BBQ sauce. I'll let you decide if you would like to eat at this establishment.

This place has really gone downhill of late, & it used to be a really good restaurant prior to the pandemic. The place looks very run down, its noticeable, & was not very clean looking. It appears as if the owner/management does not want to put any money into much needed maqintenance & upgrades. The food quality has significantly declined since we last ate there as well. Very disappointed in the fish & chips, edible but just!! We will not be returning until Jacks has a new owner, a new & competant chef, & the place is renovated!

Excellent Fish and Chips. There were four if us. We ordered four Haddock and Chips and waited on their patio/deck. Our order was brought to us in a reasonable time and was hot and fresh. We all really enjoyed our food order. We all commented on how good the fish was and how good the home cut chips were. Also the price was quite reasonable too. We had four Haddock and Chips, three ginger ales and a bottle of water for $60 including tip. We will definitely be coming back to Norwoods Jacks Family Restaurant in the future.Sept. 9th, 2023 Update:This was our second visit this year. We sat outside with our dogs on the deck. Our meals, "Fish & Chips for Two", came quickly. Our sever was efficient and conciencious. Our meals were good, but not quite as good as the previous times we've been here. The Fish was a bit smaller and the Chips too were smaller. As in thin cut instead of more traditional Fish and Chips cut.Other than that, I would still recommend the Norwood Jack's Family Restaurant.
