⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Hidden Gem on the Oakville Waterfront
We decided to try Plank Restobar in Oakville with the family, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences we've had in a while. The location is unbeatable—right next to the waterfront, with a cozy, rustic ambience that immediately sets the mood. The interior is full of vintage charm, with eye-catching signs scattered throughout, including my personal favorite: a classic Coca-Cola sign that added a nostalgic touch.
From the moment we walked in, our host Ty made us feel welcome. He suggested we start with a few appetizers and decide on mains afterward—a recommendation that paid off. We began with the salmon, which was exceptional: fresh, tender, and beautifully seasoned. The shrimp came next—slightly firm, but the sauce was so flavorful it more than made up for it. Then came the ravioli meatballs and the Pao Bao buns, both of which were packed with flavor and beautifully presented.
Even though everyone claimed to be full, we couldn’t resist ordering the Margherita pizza with a cheesy jalapeño dip. It arrived hot and fresh, with a juicy base and just the right amount of kick. It was gone in minutes.
The food was consistently impressive, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and Ty’s service was top-notch. Plank Restobar is a must-visit if you're in Oakville—great for families, date nights, or just a relaxed evening by the lake.

This place sucks, 5 times trying to eat here and they always close before their business hours. Update them so you don’t waste my time coming here.

The host was super welcoming, and Faith, our server, was absolutely incredible. She was attentive (truly can’t stress this enough), warm, and even made sure our dog had water. She’s easily one of the best servers I’ve ever had - her service really stood out and made the experience so much better.

Unfortunately, the food was a letdown this time. Two of us had been here separately last year and were blown away by how good everything was, so we were really excited to return. Sadly, it didn’t live up to our expectations.

Cauliflower fritters: We’d been craving these since last year, but they weren’t the same. The batter had an overpowering beer flavor, the garlic aioli lacked garlic, and the cauliflower itself was undercooked. It feels like the recipe may have changed - and not for the better in my opinion.

Honey Boo Boo pizza: I liked the flavor, but the sauce was too watery. With the thin crust (which I normally love), the excess sauce and oil made it soggy.

Whip It Feta: Very disappointing - the feta was bland and lacked flavor altogether. We’d had whipped feta at a similar-style restaurant just the night before (similar price), and the contrast in flavor was huge - the version here was unfortunately bland and lacking in comparison.

Karaage and waffle: The best dish of the 4 dishes. The waffle seemed deep-fried, which was an interesting twist, and the chicken was juicy. The downside was the kimchi - it was old, leaving a bitter note. Fresh kimchi would have elevated the dish so much more.

Overall, we left disappointed, especially considering the price point. The food just wasn’t at the same level as before.

That said, the staff - and especially Faith - were phenomenal. Her service was the saving grace of our visit.

Wonderful patio with a gorgeous view of the lake. Tasty entrees and appetizers for a fair price with a great selection of cocktails. Exceptional service- thank you Tyler and happy early birthday!

Honestly, there's nothing even remotely disappointing about Plank. The food is absolutely incredible, the vibe is real, and the service is outstanding. I just can't believe it took me six years of living in Oakville to discover this gem.

I can confidently say this was the best restaurant I’ve ever had the pleasure of dining in. It was amazing that every single dish was delicious - and the service - spectacular.

Great variety of American Tapas style options, atmosphere was very casual but quite busy on a Sunday evening. Service was incredibly friendly and made the experience overall memorable and pleasant. We ordered the poke bowl & duck poutine and I was pleased with portion size. I would definitely visit again to try some other menu items.

The atmosphere is cool and the service is amazing. However, the fries were terrible—overcooked, very small, and way too hard. Honestly, even fast food fries, like Harvey’s, taste better. The steak was also disappointing—small and not very filling. I don’t think I’d come back here for a meal, but I’d definitely return for drinks with friends.

A nice, waterfront location for this tapas style dining spot. Furnishings not overly comfortable, clean enough although one of their 3 unisex restrooms was out of order. Server was warm and told us all of the typical favourite items and those she also liked from the menu. Our group had House Sliders, Big Wedgy, and Margaritaville pizza. Everything was flavourful, nicely plated and served at the appropriate temperature. Overall it's a 4.

We probably made the wrong choices when it came to what we ordered. The food was okay - not bad, but not great either. I’d say it’s somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.

The service was fine; they added us to the waiting list and treated us well. Overall, decent food, but nothing special. We might think twice before going again.
