Wow! Fresh and delicious food and great service! Enjoyed a lovely time on the patio with my family. Shared fresh, warm chips and a salsa flight. We ordered the 2 vegetarian taco options and the steak tacos. All were so amazing it was hard for us to pick a favorite. So much flavor! We can't wait to go back!

They were having a very few things for for us to order, no apparent etc, just tacos were available to order, food was decent and so was the service.

I used to come to Por Vida all the time and always ordered their steak tacos. They used to be incredible — slices of steak with guac, pico, and cheese. Last night, I went back and ordered them again, but what came out was completely different: boiled ground beef with cabbage and guac. The meat was so tough I couldn’t even bite into the taco — it felt like I was just served fat. I almost never send food back, but this time I had to.

To the restaurant’s credit, the servers were super understanding and quickly replaced the dish with the birria tacos, which were amazing.

One small note: when we first arrived, the restaurant was practically empty, but we were seated directly between two full tables. I understand seating charts from working in restaurants myself, but there were plenty of other options in the server’s section that would have made the experience a bit more comfortable.

Overall, I really appreciate the great service and how quickly they made things right — but I do hope the steak tacos return to the quality they used to have.

Cool corner spot serving quality homemade Mexican staples and of course a place to get ones tequila or mezcal fix. They have the traditional elevated Mexican options plus a few interesting items above and beyond. We enjoyed a few tacos and their ceviche. Definitely get a salsa sampler, their salsa choices are very well composed. Complex and diverse, great way to work your way into a deeply savoury tortilla dish.

Beautiful setting/decor. Bathrooms were beautifully decorated, clean, unisex. Tacos were delicious, I think the shrimp were the best, and the pomegranate guacamole. No one was using the patio, though it was very hot and in direct sunlight.

Mocktail was super sweet, I watered it down.

Our table was reserved as we went for a birthday celebration, but skipped dessert.

Our waitress wasn't the most attentive, so we needed to flag down other servers for little things like water refill, and more napkins but she was friendly and it was quite busy.

Very unorganised. I went in to ask if there is any table, they said yes. I said I will bring my people in along with my 1 month old baby. When we came back in, around 3 minutes later, they said someone took the table. Would you want to go to such a place ??

I love it here and I’m so glad I found this lil gem in the area. Drinks are delicious, staff is amazing and accommodating! Only thing is if I might suggest is for the bone marrow to have more marrow and less corn. Otherwise everything is todo bien !

Is the second time we are here. The service is excellent. The food is real Mexican food. (Coming from a Mexican) the personnel is bilingual, feel free to practice your Spanish with them, they are very kind and efficient. The atmosphere has no equal in Oakville. You will feel on vacations for a moment. We will definitely come back.

Edit: I visited this restaurant frequently before and after the pandemic. I went recently and while the drinks are still great the food quality has really gone down. The churros were like cardboard and the tacos did not have balance of flavor. Really disappointing.

Been here a few times and everything has been fabulous. Great drinks, tacos, appetizers and churros. Decor is stunning and music is perfect. Servers are always lovely. The kitchen is open in the back so you can also see them cook. Always a treat to come here.
