We went two weeks ago and there are foreclosure notices on the windows saying that the place is closed due to non-payment of the lease. So I'm assuming it is now permanently closed until they find a new owner.
We first visited the Monk when it opened its doors back in May 2006 and it was a great pub - this continued until 2023 when it was sold to new owners. After the sale, it was re-fitted but everything went downhill. They hardly ever had the drinks on the menu and the food (if available) was poor and so so over priced. Hoping that someone takes it over and turns it back in to a successful local pub with great food

A place that used to be our âgo toâ for wings and nachos just fell off a cliff when it changed hands. The menu changed so that all of our favourites were overpriced and underwhelming. The best nachos I ever had were from The Monk, and were $20. Now, or before the customers voted and the bailiff locked the new owners out, you could build a pale imitation of them for $45!!
I read an arrogant response from the new owners to an unfavourable review when they said âour sales are up 60% and 99% of our customers love usâ. I wonder how thatâs working out for them. Listen to your customers. Theyâre the only opinion that matters. Not yours.

I came here for my friend's birthday and she originally requested the lounge area with the couch and comfy chairs, to which was confirmed and reserved for her. The staff called her the day before to confirm her reservation and said the lounge is no longer available - even tho she had it booked 3 weeks prior. Infuriating. The staff called her again the day of to confirm, it seemed super fishy. Our group arrived and was seated at an average high top table right next to the lounge that we saw was given to a group of older women for a birthday. Incredibly disrespectful. Feels like they were paid off by these women to get this spot and couldn't hold any accountability for this error, they never even apologized and instead acted like it was no big deal. Why did my friend's birthday matter less than this group? Why couldn't you say no to this group? If you double booked it, it should have gone to my friend since she booked it 3 weeks in advance.
I ordered the caesar salad and paid $7 extra for chicken on top. The size of the extra chicken was smaller than my palm, completely ripped off - I included photos for reference and scale.
I used to love coming here in college for nachos but after this last situation, I won't return.

I booked a reservation as friends and I were coming out of town, we get to the restaurant today to see a sign on the door that said they were closed for maintenance. Beyond frustrated that there was no communication to tell us that the restaurant was closed considering we drove 45 minutes, but got a reminder for my reservation. When we went to look up if anything was posted on social media, the Instagram account has been deleted. Seems strange

The food and service were great! They accommodated our U16AA boys' hockey team and parents after our OMHA game. We were a group of almost 40 people and the drinks and food came out in a timely manner and everyone left happy ?
Didn't have multiple menu items. Unable to make a hamburger, Ruben or onion rings.Is not a pub by any means, the exterior does not represent what's inside. We were the only people there, many came in, waited for service or had a look around and left. Wish we did the same. Actually saw the chef go to the restaurant next door and ran back with something covered carefully in his hands. Didnt even get our drink order right (two waters and an icetea), was brought a diet coke. There was no other customersMemphis burger was very small, no flavor and disappointing. French fries were McDonald's fries.

A new spot in Oakville that just recently opened up! Here, you can enjoy delicious dishes while you take in the retro glam vibes of the restaurant! We came in for brunch and were impressed! The food was fresh and plated nicely. You must try their Avocado toastâŠso good!

Amazing Food and service the atmosphere is really accommodating and not to mention the staff and management are so friendly specially Ray was wonderful took the time to walk us through the menu and suggested some awsome dishes loved the experience will definitely visit
The food was good and the service was amazing. Unfortunately the manager was incredibly rude and disrespectful to just about everyone in the bar. I will not be returning.

Have been visiting this place for a while. Change in management has let this place become pathetic. One person at our table ordered two drinks and got a $50 tab handed to her. Upon confronting management, they said it was a mistake and muttered about a display bottle in broken English. They offered to refund the overcharge, which we replied we simply wonât be coming back.
