Tucked away on Simcoe County Rd 169, Orillia, we discovered Tent Kitchen and Bar on a Saturday afternoon. We had travelled to the area to catch a show at Casino Rama and were looking for a restaurant for dinner. Tent blew our minds! The experience began with exemplary service - we were a couple of walk-ins, but welcomed in and sat right away. Homemade rosemary focaccia was so fresh, tender with the sugared butter. I had the hand rolled gnocchi, they accommodated my request for no mushrooms without blinking an eye. Hubby had the pork steak, bursting with flavour! Fresh sautéed, crisp seasonal veggies rounded out both plates. If you happen to be in the area you MUST visit Tent Kitchen and Bar. Bravo!
We stopped at this excellent restaurant in the way home. The food, staff and ambiance is outstanding. You will not be disappointed 😃🩷
First the positives, lovely staff and the food was tasty. We might have caught them on a bad day as my spouse had a completely different (better) experience for brunch previously. Upon ordering there was extremely limited beer options (one only), and only two wine options left. Some of the mains were also not available. The food was not cheap and frankly the portions were small for the price. Kind if disappointing given all the hype.
The food is amazing, inventive, and creative. Everytime we go here, we are always blown away by the service and the quality of the food. 5 stars!!
HOW IS THIS PLACE NOT MORE BUSY!?!
Seriously though guys, your food is absolutely incredible, it's a work of art and every bit is a blast of flavour in your mouth. The servers are very knowledgeable and so friendly, unfortunately I've yet to meet the chef but sir my hat is off to you, well done! If your looking for the perfect dinning experience, just stop by tent on hwy169. You won't regret the flavour 🤤🤤🤤
My husband and I have been coming here at least once a week since we discovered tent! Their food is seriously amazing. We usually get the farmers breakfast which is a simple breakfast, perfected. Recently we have been trying out the lunch and dinner menu, and we have been super impressed!! Good job Tent!!!
Second time I’ve been here, certainly won’t be the last! Food is amazing as is the service. What a gem found in what seems to be in the middle of nowhere where!
Such a lovely place, definitely a hidden gem.
Us 5 girls had a delicious, wonderful evening here. The food was 5 star, amazing flavors. Our Server was fantastic and bubbly. Lots of laughs. Would live to go back soon.
Excellent food
Owner /chef came out in person. Asked how we liked our experience/meal. Very sincere, straight in the eye. Home made sweet rolls were delicious, staff pleasant and knowledgeable. You get what you pay for and more. I do not do this very often but The Tent is absolutely deserving! Megwiich.

WOW. Blown away is the understatement of the year. I've driven my this place many times and always wondered what it was. My son had a friend who raved about the food, so we decided to try it out last night for the first time.
OMG, was it amazing. The bread knots were amazing, we shared some apps with the brussel sprouts, the Halloumi and olives and the mini meat balls that just melted in your mouth.
The service was great. It was a Monday night and the place was quiet, but don't let that fool you, it's worth the stop. We had a baby with us and Sarah the waitress brought us a highchair and even some wipes when things got messy. My test of a great restaurant, is the water. Don't let my glass get empty and Sarah was on it and gave us a bottle for the table .
We had steak, Octopus and the burger for dinner and we were all impressed.
Dave (the chef) has taken Downtown Toronto food and brought it up to 169 (south of Washago).
It doesn't look like much from the outside (hence the lower appearance rank), but this is one of those examples where appearances are deceiving.
STOP IN AND EAT HERE.

I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken and potato waffle lunch. The hot honey sauce was flavourful and didn't overpower the meal. Chicken was moist and tender with a crispy coating. Entire meal was a slice of heaven for your taste buds.

My husband, who is Toronto's oldest senior softball player,.will be 92 on October 20th. David, the owner and remarkably talented Chef at Tent, prepared Norm's favourite meal, Chilean bass for dinner last night which I ordered as a birthday surprise. It was perfection. Kayla, our attentive server, was delightful. As usual, dining at Tent is exceptional.
This is the closing weekend for our little cottage. We hope to end this lovely season with brunch at Tent tomorrow. Never too much of a good (in this case great) thing.
Norm says, "This unique, off the beaten track treasure should rank in the top 10 places to eat in the world."

Do not let the outside look of this restaurant dissuade you!
This restaurant experience is truly fantastic. The service is so warm and friendly - and the food is absolutely delicious. The cocktails are also totally amazing! Highly recommend stopping in and having a wonderful dining experience. The burrata appetizer is a must order! Also the complimentary bread is the best I've ever been given in a restaurant.
