We figured something had changed because the flavours were off from the first bite. The dough had no salt, the meat didn’t taste like anything, there were no spices, no lemon, it was super watery and apparently they added green peppers, which I was not impressed with.
Aladdin consistently hit the spot- this didn’t.

For me when it comes to meat pies in orleans, it used to be always Ali baba which is down the street. Ever since 2023 I started disliking Ali babas new ways of making meat pies and so I saw there’s this bakery near by. I stopped by to try it and now ever since I only ever go there for meat pies. One thing I love about this aladdin meat pie that’s so different to others in the city is they have the perfect crunch. Ali baba meat pie used to be good but now it’s just consisly way too soggy whilst these guys just give me the best meat pie proportion. Where it’s juicy in the inside but also crispy on the outside and has no flour. A lot of other meat pie stores when they get the crispy right you’ll take a bite and get a mouth full of flour from the dough. But this Aladin has the perfect crunch without any flour or sogginess.

We dropped by Aladdin bakery on a random night to try their stuff and we were pleasantly surprised by the flavour from the baked goods. We ordered meat and cheese, zaatar and cheese and forgot the last one. Oops. Never had zaatar so it was different. The gentleman at the shop recommended meat and cheese, and I’d say that was our favourite too. It’s probably because I’ve never had zaatar before that I felt like I will probably need to have it a few more times to fully enjoy it. Either way, I think the flavour will grow on me eventually. Will come back for meat and cheese. Overall, clean bakery quick food. In and out.
