Palm Court Restaurant Ltd. in North Oshawa is a refreshing and much-needed addition to the halal food scene in the area, offering a bold and flavorful fusion of Caribbean and Asian cuisines. The menu stood out for its unique offerings, it’s not your typical takeout spot, and that’s a good thing.
We ordered the Palm Court Chow Mein with fried chicken on top, and it did not disappoint. The noodles were well-cooked, tossed in a savory, slightly spiced sauce that gave them a nice kick without being overpowering. The fried chicken pieces placed on top were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and added a great contrast in texture. It felt like a comfort food dish elevated with the right seasoning and flair.
The Palm Court Fried Rice with fried chicken was equally satisfying. The rice was aromatic, not greasy, and each bite had a nice balance of flavors, slightly sweet, mildly spicy, and deeply satisfying. Again, the fried chicken stole the show with its crispiness and bold seasoning, tying the whole dish together beautifully.
We also ordered the Chilli Chicken, requesting the wet version, but it unfortunately arrived dry. That said, it was still delicious, tender chunks of chicken with a rich, tangy, and spicy coating that had us going back for more. Though the mix-up was a bit disappointing, the taste made up for it, and we’re hoping it was just a one-time error.
Overall, Palm Court serves flavor-packed, halal-friendly food. The fusion of Caribbean and Asian elements really works, and it’s clear that thought and care go into each dish. While the dining space itself is inviting, the food also speaks volumes.

The chicken was SO GOOD. Perfectly crispy and so tender. Haven’t had this type of chicken in Durham anywhere. Their hot sauce is delicious!
And the lamb fried rice was amazing, the lamb was so yummy. My husband ate here twice in 24 hours.
The food came out super quick!

Delivery order came without rice as shown on menu with the chili chicken order. Thought they just forgot. So called to ask and was told it no longer comes with rice. No problem , but why not tell me that when I ordered? I would have paid the extra. The person that took my call said the no rice policy just changed yesterday according to her manager. When I said it shows on their website menu that it does.. she replied well on mine here it doesn’t.
Used to be a great place for food but with poor customer service and smaller potion sizes we sadly won’t be back.
4 small takeout containers cost $94.00

First visit, service was adequate, but seemed to be sum what ad hoc. Menu is not clear and needs more uniqueness. Selections are simple, but needs more robust items for the branding. There was not a tranquil atmosphere, inline with the name, of the establishment!

The food used to be good here. No anymore.

Overpriced for what ot is, I'll get over that. But making me pay a dollar for this is ludicrous. $25 plus tip for take out makes it $30 and you want to charge $1 for that much hot sauce?

I’ve been to Palm Court Restaurant & Bar in Oshawa twice now, and each visit has been a fantastic experience! I tried the fried rice with chicken on top and the Chow Mein, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. On my second visit, I took advantage of their Wings Night special (2-for-1 deal), which was an amazing value. The wings were flavorful and cooked perfectly!
The service was outstanding—the server was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the menu and helping me make the perfect selection. The food, atmosphere, and great customer service definitely make this a spot worth visiting again. Highly recommend!

So I tried this restaurant back in 2021 and the food was absolutely tasteless. I had to reseason the chicken and dress it in barbecue sauce, put it back in the oven to give it an inkling of taste. Fast forward to today, I decided to give the restaurant a second shot. I believe in giving businesses a chance to redeem themselves. I placed an order to pick up for 12:00 and unfortunately I was delayed and got to the restaurant around 12:10-12:15. The young lady in the front was by herself and busy with two other patrons. She asked my name for the order and went to the back to collect it. I must say that even though she was busy she acknowledged me and was very kind. I could hear her telling the cook or whoever was in the back. Let's just say that person had absolutely no manners. He started to yell at her and I could hear him from the front of the restaurant complaining about the time that I was there to pick up the food, and about people coming late for their food. I will completely take accountability that I was 10 minutes late. Regardless I want and need the food because I have people coming over for lunch. I have no problem reheating the food, but I do have a problem with the way he was screaming at the young lady. If you have a problem like that, come out and address me the customer, but do not take that out on her. It was absolutely appalling to hear from the front of the restaurant. I have yet to try the food for today and I will come back to comment as to whether it has improved or not, but regardless, I will never patron this place again. You surely need to retrain your staff at the back with regards to their manners and how they speak to others. I surely hope that young lady finds a better place to work
This restaurant is posted about quite a bit on a certain group, so it made me want to try it. I’d thought it was in South Oshawa, but it’s not. I ended up deciding to make the trip north, to a part of Oshawa that shocked me since I never go up there anymore, as I had time. Figured I should give it a shot, and needed to eat before a concert.
The menu was a lot more basic than I thought, and a lot of it was blocked off with tape. Several things sounded good, but I couldn’t decide, so I went with black pepper beef. That’s my favourite thing to eat at Mandarin, Country Perks and the former Tang Dynasty. I wondered how it would be here, as it’s a Caribbean restaurant.
Honestly? It was good, but not nearly as good as at those restaurants. It had a coating, wasn’t too spicy and wasn’t all that plentiful for almost $20. Plus, for $20, you’d think the dish would come with rice. Then again, it didn’t have any sauce to put on the rice, like the other restaurants’ black pepper beef, and there was none on the table.
That said, I did get a decent amount of rice (for $3 extra).
The restaurant was clean, it was well kept and nice looking. The music wasn’t my thing. The service was decent. I wish I had been offered more water; especially when a bit of spice got caught in my throat and caused me to cough.
Their lunch specials ($9.99, i think) sounded great. At least, several of them did. That said, I don’t know what the portions are like. The beef certainly wasn’t terribly plentiful.
I wish I’d been there during lunchtime, as I could’ve ordered two of those for the same price.
If I ever venture back to that second city part of Oshawa, I may give this place another chance. However, I had really high hopes and expectations that were not met tonight. It’s a ways out of my way, and Country Perks is better.

The restaurant is clean and such a great atmosphere. The service was so good! The food was amazing (had the Pepper Shrimp, Spicy BBQ and Lemon Pepper wings - best in Durham Region!) and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

They market as a Caribbean restaurant, but only sell Caribbean food 4 days of the week. 7 days of the week is Chinese food. They really should market this as a Chinese restaurant. The past few months the Caribbean side of the restaurant has been completely closed as well, which is a shame because the food is good.
