The quality of the food was exquisite and unexpected for the price. Beautiful view along the canal. Server Justin was incredibly attentive to our needs and wants. Would return and recommend.

Everything was good but the the “beignet “ was not a beignet. It was a ball of fried dough. Having had them at Cafe du monde…this needs some research.

Amazing location by the canal and very convenient if going to a play. The food was beautiful and imaginative, but was not well executed. The portions were small, parts were under or over cooked, and overall it lacked flavour. We had entrees and dessert. Unless the location is your primary concern, I would not recommend. Considering the price tag, the meal was incredibly disappointing.

Really good food- but the service is what put it over the top. Our server Ivan was truly outstanding and even took pictures for us. One of a kind experience! Felt like a proposal all night haha!

It was a pleasure working with Courtney Strauss organizing our staff event we reserved for July 24th. She was professional offering options to accomodate our requests, timing, and dietary needs.
The experience the staff had was fantastic. The food was delicious and being so hot outside we opted to move inside last minute for dinner instead of on the patio as originally planned. Although this feat was overwhelming for our server to do alone he pulled it off.
Thank you for making this event a huge success. We look forward to visiting as a team and personally after this great experience.

As always a great place for lunch with a view! As a bonus a marching band walked by proving an extra entertainment for the kids!
Many thanks to a server Yves for helping us celebrate a meaningful anniversary. Food was also great, tasty and interesting. Kudos.

A few weeks ago, I had come to Ottawa to celebrate my 30th birthday and had chosen 1 Elgin as the place to attend for dinner.
This being my first fine dining establishment, 1 Elgin has significantly raised the bar for all fine dining restaurants.
The food and wine were absolutely delicious. I had never tasted chicken that was as juicy and succulent as the one I had that night, and the flavors accompanied by the papaya, mango, peanuts, Thai basil and the tamarind vinaigrette were a unique combination that worked really well together. Being new to the wine scene, the glass of Jackson Triggs was lovely, and it has become an instant favorite!
All that being said, what I will forever remember and cherish the most is the hospitality that was provided. Whether it was the personal wishes, or the collective while the servers sang me happy birthday, or Justin providing complimentary dessert and engaging in a wonderful discussion about the importance of celebrating and loving oneself - everything about 1 Elgin contributed to making my day feel even more special and significant.
Thank you to everyone from the chefs to the servers as well as upper management for the type of service you provide. You should be extremely proud, and if given a chance, I would absolutely revisit again!

A truly unique experience for tourists, offering Canadian cuisine infused with international flavors (e.g., Italy, France). The view is truly one of a kind - overlooking the canal and the iconic Château Laurier. The selection of Canadian wines is very impressive. If you are a tourist, you can start with a scenic boat tour along the canal first and then walk just 10 meters to the restaurant. Absolutely worth every dollar.
The location is easily accessible for those using wheelchairs. You can ask the cab driver to drop you off at the box office entrance at 1 Elgin Street, or at the rear entrance of the National Arts Centre.

Great location at the canal, perfect service and friendly staff.
We had dinner here on the patio. Its a beautiful spot with a view of the canal. I ordered the salmon dish and it was good. The sides were excellent, the fish itself could have used a little more flavour. I also tried my friend’s gnocchi and it was incredible.
Perfection. The gnocchi has to be the best in the city.
