We were warmly greeted when we walked in and were seated in no time.(We had made reservations earlier) The menu was simple but offered a wonderful variety of dishes. Two of us had the Piri Piri Chicken and my sister who likes vegetarian foods had the Cauliflower plate. Everything tasted amazing. We didn't do desert because we were very full after dinner and we are not really into desert and no one was in the mood to share one so we decided to skip.”

Their donair and chili garlic dips are a must try! I suggest dining in as it’s best when fresh out of the oven.”

“We were celebrating my dad's 91st birthday. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner who escorted my 87 year old mom to the table, chatting with her the whole time. I quietly mentioned to him that my dad was celebrating his 91st birthday and he proceeded to tell me about his 93 year old father-in-law. He said that they'd pull out all the stops. Our waiter was gracious and attentive ensuring that both my parents were comfortable. The food was great. When it came to dessert, my dad got his dessert with a candle. When the bill came, my dad's dessert and my mom's second drink were free. It doesn't get better than that!”

Recognize that my first review was written almost ten years ago and could use a refresh as I certainly had more to say back then. Only make it out a handful of times a year, but the quality and service here are outstanding. Inventive, creative, and delicious food and drink. Fauna could easily compete in a modern Canadian metro area (Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver) with their cuisine. Ottawa isn't as adventurous nor appreciative nor kind towards good food. So yourself a favour if you appreciate trying something different and check it out. Top quality product always. Please be mindful that the main room can be a bit loud when full, just sayin..

I can't say enough good things about Fauna. I've eaten here around 2-3 times a month since opening (easily 40+ visits). I have never eaten anything I haven't loved, and I've tried as much of their inventive menu as I could.

Frog legs? Yes please. Duck heart tartare on V-day? You guys are dark, funny, and I couldn't eat raw heart on a better day. Every crudo, carpaccio, and tartare I've tried are all the things delicious. Each plate is a work of art. Flavours are balanced perfectly. Excellent drink selection.

The staff might as well be my second family. They are all super attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about all things delicious. I've built a rapport with most of the Fauna's team, and can't say enough good things about them.

The main room itself is cozy, open, and industrial. Yes. Those adjectives do not normally go together. But they do at Fauna. Even the bathrooms are gorgeous. The Foundry room downstairs has been a real treat to use, which I have on a few occasions. Service with a private booking was fantastic. Double plus good for the ability to play your own music.

In my opinion, one cannot go far wrong eating at Fauna. Caveat: those who can go wrong have an unrefined palate, prefer quantity over quality, or go to restaurants to simply play the part of a scenester.

There are many self-proclaimed "foodies" - I despise that word. I know food because I took the time to educate myself about as many aspects of cuisine as possible. Just because you spend lots of money eating out doesn't make you any more special or unique, or valued to society.

You are not a special snowflake.

Fauna deserves 5 stars for everything they've done. Today, everyone feels they have a right to an opinion, and they do. However, not all opinions hold equivalent value.

If you know high quality when you taste it, you'll love this place. I've had over 100 individual dishes here, and have not once had an any issues.”
