“Went there on a Wednesday evening. Chic vibe, clean, and great food. I had the trout with Tom yum sauce which was delicious and savoury. My friend had the salad which was big enough as a meal and the focaccia which was so soft inside with their homemade butter. I loved it! The server was super nice, she let us hang back and finish chatting after we finished our meal. She was super nice and very helpful with our meal selections.”

She was very efficient and ensured all our needs were met. The order took longer than expected to arrive, and when it did, the food was just warm. We explained to the server who was apologetic, the food was heated to our satisfaction, and enjoyed by all. We were visited by the Manager In order to make sure everything was to our satisfaction, following the issue we had experienced. She very kindly told us she was giving us a reduction on the total price as a sign of goodwill, and also provided free dessert for the group. I would say that was an excellent show of hospitality on the part of Montana's, and we will definitely be arranging future visits.”

“I recommend Kettlemans as the food is good and they have good variety. That said. The service is sub-par. My wife and I stop here regularly on Sunday Mornings about 7 am 2 or 3 times a month. Consistently nobody greets us even though there are many workers who make eye contact and just keep doing whatever they're doing. More often than not we have to call out to get attention after waiting several minutes at the front counter. Management doesn't seem to value customer service and simply expects people to keep coming back as if Kettlemans' history entitles them to customers. That is a surprising attitude in an otherwise excellent store.”

“On average we get take out from Sula Wok once per week. We love the food and the vibe of the place. (Sula and her gang are also very nice to deal with). I really like the traditional Pad Thai. Recently, Sula asked that I try a slightly new version of the dish (apparently less fishy). Sula asked that I let her know if I liked it or not. While I thought the taste was a little different (maybe not as spicy or “fishy”), I still loved it and will be ordering it again.”

The waitress was excellent, so attentive and we were treated with a poached pear for our anniversary dessert. The food is exceptional, a must if you are in Ottawa in the Byward Market area.”

“My absolute FAVOURITE shawarma place. Can't sing its praises enough. Extremely friendly staff, generous portions (no stinginess with the meat!), fresh and delicious food, all very reasonably priced. Family run place, I think there's exactly one employee there who isn't part of the family.

While I usually get a beef shawarma wrap or plate here, I NEED to shout out the falafel - it's by far the best falafel I've had in the city. Not the best I've had period, but for Ottawa it goes hard as hell. Wish I knew about this place for the 13 years I was vegetarian, because it would've been a lifesaver. None of that dry stuff that plagues this city. Pretty sure the mom makes it.

“There used to be a pho place in Toronto that I loved until it closed down 7 years ago. Since then, I could not find a pho place that I liked... until today. You can really taste the care Mama Mai puts into its dishes. The pho broth is very clear, and flavorful, without being too salty. Their fish sauce is the perfect combination of sweet and sour, with pickled cabbage and carrots in side it for an extra special touch. Their coconut coffee is a delicious refreshing treat, with a perfect balance of creaminess to that signature strong viet coffee. I am happy to add Mama Mai to my regular rotation of restaurants when ever I visit Ottawa.”

I made this reservation, partly on some reviews I had seen and having eaten the lobster ravioli previously as a takeout menu option. The restaurant is in a beautiful century home with photos adjoining the walls of all the famous politicians, musicians, and other stars from Ottawa or having eaten there while visiting the capital that have eaten there. The service was exceptional, the waiter stopped by every few minutes to top up our water or ask if we needed anything. Onto the food… We found the food to be pedestrian at Best. I would’ve rated it at 3.8 and my dinner companion at 3.4 but we do not have those options here. My lobster ravioli had a sauce that was heavy enough to anchor a boat although it offered a nice flavour pallet. His veal was similar, tender with a nice mushroom sauce however it was overly salted. I recommend this place as long as you know what you’re getting ahead of time. The prices are on the high side, but certainly not the most expensive in the Ottawa region.”

While the scallops were cooked well the purée lacked flavour.. missing that hit of cheese. I had to use some lemon to liven the dish a bit. My friend had the streak frites, medium rare that came rare. We had the kitchen bring to temp. I had a bite and it was tender and flavourful. I will return to try more from the menu and see how it goes. A great place either way for atmosphere and drinks.”

“Very quaint little restaurant. The service is top notch. The Sashimi and Nigiri are extremely delicious and high quality. Unfortunately the non spicy Maki rolls didn't have much taste to them but they were extremely tender.

It is quite expensive however I can tell they use high quality authentic ingredients.
