“We received a gift card from a family member for $100 USD as a Christmas Present and were excited about enjoying a meal at this restaurant. The gift card was purchased directly from Joey's, not a 3rd party. We went and everything initially about the restaurant was very enjoyable. The food was very good, the service was attentive and we enjoyed our experience until the cheque arrived. When we we presented the gift card (electronically) our server went to speak with a ⁶manager and then returned to inform us that the $100 USD would be honoured in Canadian dollars. $100 USD is worth $144.50 Canadian dollars according to google when checked today. We paid the bill and tipped the service team 22% and left after effectively having $44.50 taken from us and our family member in what felt like to us, theft by conversion. The manager in question did not come to follow up after our expressing our disappointment JOEY's is already a very expensive restaurant. Further, the gift card information indicates that Joey's has US based restaurants. I'm quite sure that Canadian dollar gift cards are not accepted at par in the US. This ruined for us, what was otherwise a positive experience, through what felt like to us, an act of corporate greed and impersonal profiteering. After this experience we will not be back and sadly, I cannot recommend JOEY's as a place for anyone else to dine at. Any company that sells a gift card directly and then fails to deliver full value is patently dishonest, in my opinion.“

“The staff at Dinette Atomique clearly take pride in the food they serve up and and its flavours. The menu reflects fusion of south asian flavours with a range of other dishes and for the most part things work well. The only improvement I can think of would be to strengthen the use of herbs such as cilantro and mint that really do give flavour twists that make this style of cooking already stand out. The spring rolls were excellent but departed from most spring rolls in that they were more like sausages with fewer vegetable ingredients. Although this made them heavier than expected they were still excellent. The Crispy Rice Cake Hash was also well put together and unique. The restaurant is full of finishing touches like the chef's own hot sauce and ketchup etc - all rounding out a unique food experience. I would definitely return to try some more items from the menu and the atmosphere is unique and melds closely with the second hand shop next door!“

The food was delicious, and the chefs accommodated for allergies, dietary restrictions, children spice tolerances and without complaint or eye rolling (which we usually get). “AMAZING WEDDING CATERING! We are just back from our honeymoon in Nassau, and as we organize our new lives as Mr and Mrs, we can't stop talking about what the Royals Restaurant did at our wedding. That evening, the chatter was surely talking about the food. And guests are still talking about it. The meals were outstanding. The Pesto Chicken with Roasted Red Peppers & Goat Cheese, the Roasted Sirloin with Yorkshire Pudding, the hors d'oeuvres, just to recap a few.... were thoroughly enjoyed. With Chef Derrick carving the beef, he definitely finished off the buffet line in style. Plates were full, and then enjoyed by each guest. The flavours were simply succulent. But it was not just about the food. Melissa and Lindsay were at the venue far before the guests arrived. The place settings were precisely arranged ensuring that everything was lined up. The stemware and cutlery were perfect. Their management of the setup was amazing. The staff supported all the guests so professionally. A big thank you to Melanie, for operating the bar with class. To all the staff in the background, our sincere thank you as well. From the first minute that the catering trailer showed up, to the last minute when Melissa & Lindsay left at 1:00am... we were thrilled that the Royals Restaurant were a part of our wedding day. “Update: We went here for my bday and Anniversary dinner. As always Chef Ryan's food was outstanding. Did an extensive review on trip advisor for our end of May 2026 visit.

The food here is always delicious. Its always a culinary treat for us. Real comforting well balanced food, rich in flavours, perfectly cooked proteins with seasonal ingredients and textural notes to round out the dishes.

Always look forward to our visits here. For us one its one of the absolute best restaurants in ottawa. CHEF Ryan always delivers 🙌 👌 a memorable meal and experience for us.

My wife and I have eaten here on 7 occasions. We really enjoy Chef Ryan's creative, delicious food. We go back every menu change and we have always had great service, a wonderful ambiance and great views of the city. Weve enjoyed dishes of foie gras, scallops, shortribs, pork belly, innovative salads and never has one disappointed. Most importantly however is the excellent quality sourced ingredients and food prepared and expedited with care. See you soon! We highly recommend this restaurant and always tell friends about it.“

“Delicious food with interesting and well-balanced spice mix. Portions are ample, but not excessive, and price-to-food ratio feels fair. The service was outstanding, in the sense that the staff were friendly in a genuine manner. I did take-out, so I can not speak to the quality of dine-in service. The ambiance is fine, the restaurant has the vibe of a place where you would expect a group of Middle-Eastern seniors to hang out and have tea all day, that sort of coziness. Nothing flashy, but completely fine. We’ll be back for sure.“

“Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life and I’m not kidding. The chef Arup Jana made an off-menu item for us because it was so good I’d contacted him about it (roasted carrot and brie soup, created for a charity event I attended last month). We had soup at the restaurant and also bought several more servings as takeout to bring home. We also tried about seven of their tapas plates and every single one was incredible. Please go to this restaurant.“

“Visited Montana's 13th November 2022 with a group of 7 other people. The atmosphere was good, enjoyed pre-dinner drinks and conversation, followed by our server taking our meal order. She was very efficient and ensured all our needs were met. The order took longer than expected to arrive, and when it did, the food was just warm. We explained to the server who was apologetic, the food was heated to our satisfaction, and enjoyed by all. We were visited by the Manager In order to make sure everything was to our satisfaction, following the issue we had experienced. She very kindly told us she was giving us a reduction on the total price as a sign of goodwill, and also provided free dessert for the group. I would say that was an excellent show of hospitality on the part of Montana's, and we will definitely be arranging future visits.“

“How did I not see this place sooner? We had a fantastic dinner, excellent bilingual service (which mattered to our group as one person doesn't speak English), and the most delicious food and wine. The beef tartar with Avonlea cloth cheddar was out of this world. I've had beef tartar at Michelin restaurants and this one was better. So delicious, I'd just go back for that alone. The wine recommendations were excellent. And the brioche dessert dish was finger licking yummy. The sommelier, Nicholas, was knowledgeable and super pleasant. Brought two choices of Cabernet Franc to our table to tatse and both were hits. Reasonable prices too for this quality of food and service. 100% recommended.“

The venue itself is also beautiful, with modern, elegant design details and the most lovely setting right by the water.

“It's also another North American diner still thankfully in existence. Large portions, a lot of potatoes and freshly brewed coffee need nothing else.
And best part is it's 24/7.
I only gave it a 4 star not 5 because of its fried stuff. Whoever is in charge of frying is just overdoing it. Form fries to taters everything is just a step away from getting burned.
Other than that eggs, sausage, pancakes everything were great.“
