“My wife Cheryl and I were in town last week to go to a Sens game and stayed at the Best Western the pub is attached to. After the game we went I for a bite and a couple of beers. Turns out High Five is a pretty popular joint with great staff and an amazing group of regulars. We had an absolute blast. If I lived in the area this would be my place to hang at. Thanks High Five et al for a great evening, especially to an off duty staffer and partner, you know who you are ,?I highly recommend stoppingin for food and a pint when in the area.“
“Had the chance to try out this place due to a year end team event at work. As a big fan of goat cheese, I ordered the goatee burger and I think this is the best burger I've tried in Ottawa so far. The beef patty is tender and juicy. The chef did a great job. The bread is soft and nice too. Every bite of the burger is addicting. I give it a 4.5/5 overall.“
“Our server was Jenna. Great wings, and they gave us free sauce to take home. I came on bottomless boneless wing night, and the portions were great. Their fries were unique and not the bland cut fries. Great attentive service from Jenna, who frequently stopped by our table to ask for refills on water and wings. Bathrooms were in great condition and looked well clean and free of dust and debris.“
“I love hanging out at McLaren’s, been here at least a dozen times. Great vibes, lots of pool tables and great beer selection. But one of the best things is the staff - the servers and bartenders are always super friendly, skilled multitaskers and always giving great service. I’ll keep coming “

“Great premium beer, six bucks during happy hour. Warm inviting staff, Mia, Jen and even Ron. Lots of big screen tvs and a nice homey bar. Lots of regulars who are friendly.Only downside to this place is the washrooms are down in the basement which makes it more difficult for people with mobility issues, or lazy people like me.Nice place to go to for a quick beer and a snack or a full meal.“
“Had the guys from work over here for an evening. Service was great, Marley took great care of us in the lounge. Everything was perfect. The food menu is basically a deep fryer, but otherwise it was great. Great evening out with the guys.“
“I recently went to the Elgin beer project on a warm Saturday night.It was the only place that I could find with a nice patio that wasn’t surrounded by girls in crop tops and guys with backwards baseball hats, so I felt safe:)The selection of beers was fun and the Chef did an exquisite job at accommodating our culinary needs ? and for that I am thankful.But I am here to talk about the waitress. If I recall well, her name was Megs. She was alone and was serving a full patio and there were people inside to.She was unbelievable! It was like watching the girl from the video game Diner Dash. “Went to eat there on a Saturday before going to watch the hockey game. Food was great, the waitress was absolutely fantastic. My wife has a gluten issue and ordered the burger. The waitress was quick to point out that some ingredients weren't gluten free, and she offered to make sure that it was made with gluten free ingredients. We were both amazed that she wound do this. Unfortunately I can't remember her name but she was awesome, great job to her.“
“Great place to play some pool. Have a Chat with friends and have a beer. Families, couples and even a little bragging rights competition, just a great atmosphere. Music was quiet enough for conversation but loud enough to enjoy. Staff was friendly and courteous. Would definitely recommend. Didn't eat, so can't comment on the food.“

“10/10 experience with Smoque Shack catering our wedding. They brought their food truck to our venue and then served our dinner family-style. They also stuck around and did our late night snack from the truck. We got a lot of great feedback from our guests that they thought the food was great and that they had more than enough food portions-wise. The timing of our service went really well, and we also liked how the food was presented on the tables. Tyler was hands down the fastest vendor to respond to our emails and questions, too, and accommodated our requested changes with no issues and a great deal of flexibility. We were aiming for comfort food where our guests would feel relaxed, comfortable, and satisfied, and Smoque Shack definitely delivered.“
“Watched the Canadian juniors hockey vs Sweden. The smoque house food is always good. The service was impressive. Bartender was on her own with over 30 patrons and she was great. Didn't miss anyone. Ran the whole place with some really good kitchen staff. I recommend the smoque platter.“
“After my previous review, someone reached out to me to apologize for the miscommunication.I've been back a couple times and even had the cauliflower wings on the AYCE wings night.The house hot sauce is great, and the local beers are really great (shout out to the Limerick Stout - I lived in Limerick for a couple years and have even reached out to Evergreen to compliment them on a good quality Irish stout!)All the staff are super friendly and attentive and the energy is incredible during the Sens games.Happy to have this place local to my new apartment!Vegetarian options: Not many vegetarian options, only the cauliflower wings, a salad, and nachos as far as I can recall. Nachos were good if maybe a bit pricey for the size.“
“Wonderful restaurant, great atmosphere. The food was amazing, and the staff was fun to interact with. The waitresses were funny, very attentive and fast with drinks.. as your dr8nk was getting low, they were asking if you needed another or anything else.. the orders were placed at a reasonable time, and the food arrived quickly. It was very delicious, the plate presentation was great.We were a party of 20 people. I stopped in with my dilemma and Luigi sautéed delicious chicken and mushrooms in olive oil for me so they had something special. SO KIND. My favourite neighbourhood restaurant for over 35 years.“
