“I absolutely love coming here whenever I don't feel like cooking and feel like a well-prepared meal out in the neighborhood. Service is top notch, warm, friendly, helpful and thoughtful. An absolute gem in the Glebe, worth stopping by if you have the opportunity. Great value for the quality as well, which is ever increasingly rare.“
“A hidden gem of the western edge of the Ottawa area. The ambience is unmatched, with plush armchairs, fireplaces, and bookshelves loaded with old books. The menu takes inspiration from Korean cuisine and sets new expectations for how good fries can be. Don't skip this place, even if the hike down Falldown is a bit much.“
“Wow. Loved this entire experience. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming yet the food was sophisticated and divine. Loved the olives, the short rib and the cocktail and wine selection. But nothing beat that sticky toffee pudding - do not skip it! The perfect way to end a wonderful meal.“
“In town from Moncton and we decided to try Bowmans and it did not disappoint. The Bowman burger is a must for the burger lover. My fiancee had the pulled pork and it was amazing. Don't let the size of the pub fool you. The food has huge taste. Will definitely go back the next time we're in Ottawa.“
“This was the most surprising meal/lunch of 2023. I really wasn't expecting much from a hotel pub, but holy smokes it was good. The pork schnitzel sandwich was objectively perfect, the beer was excellent, and the price was great value for the location. I'll be back for sure.“
“We had reservations for 7 people at seven. When we got there we were told there was no reservation but for us not to worry they would clean off a table . The service was second to none.I was just blown away by how professional everyone is. The food was my birthday wrapped in Christmas.Make sure to check out this gem of a place.“
“Always one of my favourites in Ottawa! Food is great (Kale Caeser for sure) and the staff are the best. For years they always seem to get people who actually want to be there and it shows! Love every chance I get to stop off for a bite and a drink!“
“Great service! I ordered the house’s Barley Mow burger & it was incredibly the best I ever had. All sorts of extra flavours were present even compared to my homemade gourmet burgers. What got me was how the bun was so light & fluffy, it melted in my mouth. Of course, their home-cut fries were far superior than other places that cook from frozen. I recommend it!“
“I am very happy that there are vegan options on the menu! Our waiter was helpful in identifying which dishes were vegan. When I went (March 2024), they had a vegan fried chicken (homemade using seitan!), risotto, and mushroom toast. Their menu changes often and I'm excited to try more plant-based dishes! Great prices, fast service.“
“I like taking my daughter to the Barley Mow (stittsville is our go to but almonte is a favorite drive)... We went tonight. Dinner for 2 plus 2 non alcoholic drinks (I was driving us) came to $44 taxes in. We go there all the time so I gave a nice tip. The owner/manager and staff are amazing. And the new menu *(after covid limited menu) is really fantastic. We are trying something new every time. Tonight I tried chicken tacos and she had a huge bowl of poutine. Both were amazing. Deffo recommended! (Unfortunately I couldn't get a pic of the dishes, my phone was near dead and I needed it to pay as I forgot my purse but they then charged my phone for me!!)“
“My friend and I went here tonight for the first time. I had Butter chicken tacos, and my friend had Chicken salad, food was delicious. Service was excellent. We will definitely be back. Hopefully they get their liquor licence soon and business picks up,as it’s a great spot for dinner. I would highly recommend it.“
“The food was delicious, the place and its atmosphere is amazing and very welcoming and especially unique and the staff is very attentive and friendly. The prices are a little high, but they are worth the food as it was delicious and unique!“
“Excellent service, super friendly staff, great food and drinks. Perfect spot for a night out in Barrhaven.Idk what they're doing to the Edamame, but it's better than any I had in 2 trips to Japan. Still the best spot in Barrhaven.“
“Great food, the lighting, and the atmosphere was amazing.Waited a little too long for the food, but I did not hold it against the team as it was a busy Valentine's night. Would recommend going here a day before or after a holiday to avoid the crowd and get your delicious food quicker.I would recommend they keep extra food in stock for special occasions as they were out of quite a few options last night.Overall, I highly recommend the place.“
“Walking into this restaurant, you're immediately struck by the cozy yet elegant atmosphere. The staff welcomes you like an old friend, making you feel at ease. The menu is a culinary adventure, featuring local ingredients in inventive dishes. I was delighted by their vegetarian options, which were hearty and satisfying, defying the stereotype of vegetarian food being bland. The highlight was the dessert, a chocolate tart that was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. What sets this place apart is not just the quality of the food but the feeling of warmth and hospitality that stays with you long after you've left.“
“One of my favorite places to party while enjoying delicious food: quesadillas, burritos, and nachos are so yummy. Last but not least, the bi-weekly cuban nights are AWESOME!Dietary restrictions: Most of their meals are gluten-free, and corn made.“
“What a wonderful dining experience we had at this restaurant! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu offered a great selection, and we eagerly placed our order. However, there was a small mistake with one of the dishes we received. Despite this, the attentive staff quickly rectified the error, ensuring we had an enjoyable meal. Once the correct dish arrived, we were blown away by the flavors and presentation. Despite the initial hiccup, the outstanding food and excellent service made for a truly memorable evening. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!“
“My husband and I normally order out from this restaurant and the food was always good. We decided to eat in on Valentine’s Day and the salad that we ordered was fresh and plentiful and the pizza was piping hot with added roasted red peppers (The Crust Deluxe). Added to this was a very decent Cab Shiraz and excellent service from Danielle, our waitress. The best pizza we’ve had in a long time. Well done!“
“We arrived after the hockey game and it was absolutely slammed. Our server was Jordan who was absolutely amazing despite being run off his feet with tables/the bar. The spin dip was amazing, so was the Crust burger as was the tiramisu cheesecake. Poutine is difficult to get right on the best of days but had a good ratio of cheese/fries/gravy (and the gravy was on point). Everyone enjoyed their meals and I feel good about the portion-to-price ratio (often a sticking point with restaurants post-pandemic).The staff at C&C was incredible despite being blindsided by the hockey game ending early. We were told in advance that they were busy and figured we'd have to be patient and were prepared for a wait but it actually wasn't that long at all. I think staff managed people's expectations well by consistently communicating. Looking forward to heading back there with a larger group in the future!Final thought: as someone with mobility issues this restaurant is great for mobility device users. Door openers, low seating available and first floor bathrooms (which could also use door openers) with an accessible stall.“
“After my previous review, someone reached out to me to apologize for the miscommunication.I've been back a couple times and even had the cauliflower wings on the AYCE wings night. The house hot sauce is great, and the local beers are really great (shout out to the Limerick Stout - I lived in Limerick for a couple years and have even reached out to Evergreen to compliment them on a good quality Irish stout!)All the staff are super friendly and attentive and the energy is incredible during the Sens games.Happy to have this place local to my new apartment!Vegetarian options: Not many vegetarian options, only the cauliflower wings, a salad, and nachos as far as I can recall. Nachos were good if maybe a bit pricey for the size.“
“This is my second time visiting Chez Lucien, first time I came for lunch with another two people, this time I came for breakfast with my family. I have tried on 3 occasions to pass by for dinner when I happened to be near, all three times they were too busy and could not accommodate us. I would suggest booking a table. Their menu is limited, but what they do, they do well. Lunch menu items are delicious, my friends and I tried 3 dishes in total. For breakfast we had regular eggs Benedict and their special eggs Benedict along with an omelette. They were all nicely done. Service can be a bit slow when they are busy, but they are friendly and working hard.“
