I recently attended a wedding at Strathmere, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. The location is absolutely stunning—set on 200 pastoral acres just outside of Ottawa, it offers the perfect blend of countryside charm and convenience. The grounds are impeccably kept, with beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, nature trails, and farmland that add so much to the overall ambiance. It truly felt like a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle.

Strathmere offers three wedding venues, and I had the chance to explore them all. Each one was gorgeous and unique, giving couples plenty of choices to fit their vision for their special day. The restored barn, in particular, has this amazing rustic vibe that feels like a step back in time, adding a lot of character to the event.

However, as a wedding guest staying overnight, I did notice a few areas that could be improved. The room I stayed in, while clean, felt somewhat outdated. The amenities weren’t quite up to the standard you’d expect for a place that markets itself as Ottawa’s premier wedding venue. The heaters were noisy, which made it hard to sleep, and the door locks could definitely use an upgrade—they felt a bit finicky. It’s clear that the rooms are ready for some renovations or updates.

That said, the food more than made up for the minor inconveniences. The café at Strathmere is a hidden gem. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, with unique and creative options that went far beyond the standard fare. You can tell the ingredients were fresh, likely from their own gardens. Every meal I had was truly spectacular, and the friendly staff added to the positive dining experience.

In summary, Strathmere is a beautiful place with a lot to offer, especially for weddings. The grounds are breathtaking, the wedding venues are top-notch, and the food is incredible. A few updates to the accommodations, though, would go a long way in elevating the guest experience. Despite that, I would definitely recommend it, especially for anyone seeking a serene, picturesque setting near Ottawa!“

We are often in the Ottawa region and could never find a decent restaurant and we randomly chose this one the last time we were here. Everything is perfect here, all the dishes are pieces of art and there is a lot of complexity both in the presentation and the tastes. It goes beyond what most high end restaurants offer, it is truly unique. The scallops, served differently both times, were the best I've ever had, simply epic. The service is also top notch, they are very quick to refill glasses, yet discreet enough not to be intrusive, very polite and nice. A true 5 star restaurant in my opinion and we've been to countless so called 5 stars.“
