“Had the vegetarian platter here. It included an excellent variety of flavourful veggies. It was easy to be fooled by the portions because the platter was very filling and I could not finish it all!The server was lovely!Enjoyed the music being played as well“
“this evening did not disappoint, if you can climb a dozen stairs you won't want to leave. authentic tasty and attractive food served with a smile, without the long wait I have experienced in other places. thank you for your incredible work“
“Eating at this restaurant was an incredible cultural experience. The food was delicious. My partner and I had the Vegan platter for 2 (35$) It came in a big plate served on a giant flat bread made with teff and 10 different sides, such as potatoes, lentils etc. We ate with our hands as they would in Ethiopia. The owner showed us how he roasted his coffee beans and taught us about his wonderful country and traditions. My partner and I both strongly recommend this restaurant especially to those who are a bit more adventurous and ready to try new food.“
“Excellent Ethiopian food. Single person operation who was informative, friendly and fast. Generous portions of the various dishes, injeer bread at incredibly good prices.Amongst other items, tried 3 beef dishes. All were excellent, each with their own unique flavours. Would go back repeatedly event if the only thing they offered was the Zilzil Tibs.Kid-friendliness: Easy to find dishes that were not spiced to hot for children.“
“We picked this restaurant based on its great reviews on Google and its interesting menu. Our server was super friendly and helpfully suggested that we try the vegetarian platter, the habesha platter, and one of the special dishes from the last page on the menu. We decided to get the special kitfo cooked medium rare. We figured it was a good sign when we had to wait a little while for our food, and we weren't disappointed. The injera was perfect, and both mixed platters were served on one, with the rest rolled up in pieces on the side. The kitfo came in a separate bowl and was absolutely delicious. A little spicy, tons of flavour. I couldn't recommend it more highly. The other platter items were excellent with some overlap between the two platters but still a good variety. The French beans and collard beans were particularly delicious. The meat dishes were all tender. The server impressed us with her happy demeanor, beautiful smile, and the kindness and enthusiasm with which she looked after everyone. A couple with a small child came in as we were finishing dinner, and she had them (regulars I think) let their ~2 year old child sit on a bar stool at the counter. They proceeded to relax at their table for a date night while she gave their kid colouring book pages and crayons and kept an eye on her and kept her entertained. The ubereats delivery person was given a cup of tea to drink while he waited a couple minutes for his order. Customer service at its best! If we lived in the area, we'd be regulars too!“
“My friend and I were out for a long walk today and we decided to stop by Safia for bite to eat. From the moment you open the door, the aroma takes your breath away, and the staff so friendly! We both ordered the beef wrap with vegetables and a touch of hot sauce. We also ordered some samosas and got a free mandazi to taste. The food was absolutely delicious and reminded us of home, Tanzania and Kenya. We will be going back for the ugali and other dishes. They also serve, homemade chai. The portions are great as well. The two young gentlemen, who served us were friendly and kind. Safia restaurant on St Laurent /walkley location is a hidden gem I highly recommend you try!“
