“Yesterday we had an amazing experience with my family at this restaurant
Stepping into BBQ Golden Grill felt like an invitation to explore the essence of West African flavors, each dish embodying the heart and soul of the region’s cuisine.
Our journey began with Jollof Rice—a vibrant mountain of rice colored with tomatoes and spices, each bite bursting with smoky warmth and a hint of spice. Beside it lay the Turmeric Basmati Rice with Vegetables—a golden masterpiece that brought a lighter, fragrant touch to the table, with every grain delicately infused with turmeric and dotted with colorful veggies.
In the center of our spread, the Goat with Onions and Peppers took the spotlight. The tender, slow-cooked goat, accented by caramelized onions and bell peppers, was a symphony of savory flavors. It was as though every piece had been lovingly marinated and sautéed to perfection, offering a rich, hearty taste.
For a sweet and savory contrast, we enjoyed golden, crispy Fried Plantains—their caramelized edges adding a sweet, tropical flavor that complemented the meal perfectly. And, of course, a plate of French Fries provided a familiar and comforting crunch, bridging flavors across the platter.
To complete the experience, we savored a hearty African Pepper Soup (seen in the second photo). This flavorful broth made with groundnuts (ubunyobwa), with tender pieces of chicken and chunks of bananas (igitoki), brought warmth and comfort, wrapping up our meal in a cozy embrace.
Our evening at BBQ Golden Grill was a feast for the senses—a fusion of bold, comforting, and vibrant flavors that felt like a celebration of culture, family, and the joy of sharing a meal together. This restaurant is truly a gem, and we left feeling both satisfied and enriched by the experience.
Thank you Theo.“

“Lovely smooth coffee at the Laurier West location; gracious service; tasty food choices.“
“The food and the staff were amazing. I had some lamb, rice and kwanga (should have taken plantain instead of kwanga as it was tastier). Our server was very kind and energetic. Music was nice but the seating could have been a bit better. I will most certainly go back.“

“This was my first visit to Delina’s and my first taste of Eritrean cuisine. The food and service was amazing and the ambiance (music and smell of incense) added to the experience. Highly recommend the 5 way special with beef tibs. Delicious! I will certainly be back. Demolished it too fast to take pics. ?“

“The food is SO good here. I’m really picky with plantains but theirs are not dry nor are they greasy. The chicken is incredible, the perfect amount of spices and the owner offered to adjust the heat to my liking.
They used to be located in Orleans and closed and I was so bummed ! Then a few weeks ago saw the sign while driving on Montreal road and wondered if it was the same place. Went in tonight and asked the owner if it was the same restaurant and he said yes ! I was so happy !
I will be back !!“

Vegetarian options: None of the main dishes are vegetarian, but I was very happy with the veg dodos, jollof rice and other sides available. I still had a great meal!“

“Flavours were fantastic and the service was warm and inviting (contrary to some reviews we read prior to going)and the only draw back was the place looks like it could use a little tlc. My family took me there for my birthday dinner (2A 2C under 6) and we walked in to a bouquet of mouthwatering smells and the courteous and friendly staff directed us to choose what ever table we wanted. The restaurant to be honest, looked like it needed a polish and the floor could use a good mopping. That was the ONLY negative to our experience there. After talking to the mgr who walked me through the menu and gave lots of great information and suggestions we placed our order. He was even kind enought to wish me a happy birthday and brought me a juice as a little something! Please understand that time relaxing and talking while waiting for the food is part of the African restaurant experience so don't be expecting toget it on your table in 5 min. If you want that go to McD's! When the food came (2 combo platters) it was beautifully plated (I wish I thought to take pics!) and with a bowl of delicious jolof rice. FYI Ghanian jolof is different in the flavour and "sauciness" and this Nigerian jolof was fantastic of its own right being light, fluffy, and with a beautiful smoky note. The chicken and goat were amazing! Tender, juicy, and bursting with flavour I only wish we had ordered more! The beef was a little overcooked comparitively. I will say that there is a bit of heat to the dish (a tiny little bit too much for the kids even though they didn't stop eating! hahaha) The take out and delivery that was coming and going throughout our meal was nonstop which just goes to tell you how good the food is. Overall if you decide to check this place out you won't be dissapointed. The food, service, and friendliness of staff are amazing! We'll be back!“

“I am so glad we decided to try this place yesterday. Honestly the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life. I doubt we’ll ever eat shawarma again. I’ve seen some reviews mention having to wait, we did have to wait but it is not McDonald’s. We went around 12:30 and had to wait 15 mins for our food, which I would happily wait to have fresh hot food. People spend longer than that sitting in a drive thru. Portions were suuuuper generous, enough rice for 3 meals for me easily. The chicken is where the real magic is at. My whole life I’ve hated eating meat on bones (I’m a chicken breast girl) this was the first time I’ve ever eaten chicken where I was left with clean bones afterwards. It had me licking my fingers afterwards, step aside kfc. The man working recommended to my husband to get mild since it can be spicy, I’d say that’s the perfect place to start. The mild is still fulllll of flavour. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Go, try it.“
