“I love all the food that Al-Noors bakery. This is the only bakery I buy my pies. I think they are the best in all Ottawa. I drive all the way from Kemptville for there food. The service is amazing and the staff are always welcoming and very kind. I highly recommend Al-Noor bakery.“

“Probably the safest late night Shawarma fix in the downtown area. Quality, quantity, and fair pricing.

I don't think it ever looks busy from the outside - looking in. But don't be fooled. They do a lot of delivery through the app services, especially.

A large falafel sandwich will leave a hungry person finding it hard to finish. Good size. Good price. Mighty tasty. That's my goto fave.

My accomplice has been fetching beef and chicken shawarma sandwiches from here for years. Consistency. My accomplice does not like any fat or grizzle in his beef. This is the only place he trusts for a really good beef shawarma sandwich.

The pup rather enjoys some chicken cut straight from their spit (warning: no garlic sauce - garlic is not good for pups). Let's just say our pup inhales his chicken once it's cooled enough to wolf down.

Vegetarian options: I get a large falafel without garlic sauce. Pretty lip-smackin' good, and really filling.“

“Do yourself a favor and go get delicious food, huge portions, for a reasonable price. The saj uses the right type of bread, which is so refreshing, and they stuff them. Also, they pack the platter veggies separately, which makes for optimal reheating capabilities because you will have leftovers! The price of the platters at this area is 4-5$ cheaper than the most popular shawarma in Ottawa, yet this place serves the same amount of food and also a bottle drink included. “In spite of being named for Athens, the restaurant is more of a shawarma shop. I got the large chicken sandwich with all the usual shawarma things like pickles and that purple turnip, plus extra garlic sauce. The portion was a good size for the price and the quality was high - chicken wasn't dried out like in some places. The kid also liked her small chicken sandwich. What I liked most was how friendly the staff were - I assume they are owner-operators. Skip the chain restaurants and support nice people like them!“

“Spouse and I got a mixed shawarma plate each to dine in. Plates were piled high, so that we determined sharing one, would have sufficed.
They were so nice to give us a take-away container. The food was excellent with garlic sauce for the potatoes and chicken and tahini on the beef. The salad was fresh and my personal rice preference by a wide margin is the brown rice which has an exotic seasoning (nutmeg/cinnamon?).
There was nothing that was less than awesome.
The prices may not seem budget at first glance, but the value is there.
Spacious, bright, clean interior with nice clean washrooms.
Small patio for outdoor dining in season.

“Amazing sweets , and they are very patient while I sit there asking what everything is called and what's in it lol. While I was waiting the lady let me sample a sweet she just finished from where she came from; it was so good. So ya the bakery side is a must try. I was looking at the meat pies while I waited, they look amazing that's the next on my list, and I couldn't believe the price, extremely reasonable, same as the baked goods. Very nice people as well. “Boustan is a modern style shawarma shop that puts their own twist on the shawarma platter by putting it into a convenient and organized to go bowl as well as using their specialty boustan sauce to give more flavor to the food.

The beef shawarma in the bowl was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the bowl was fresh and well organized. The food tasted delicious, and I like their style of fattoush as it caters more to everyone, due to their style being less bitter than a regular sumac filled faoutoush. Boustsan sauce tastes great and tasted like a garlic base with maybe tahini or something else added in. As a garlic lover myself, I did not complain when I tasted it! Rice and potatoes were also delicious, and they have some sort of healthy rice replacement they offer aswell!

Update: Turns out to get 2 sauced and fattoush salad with your plate. You order the platter for $21 rather than the junior bowl, which I ordered for much less. This was my mistake.

“Our apologies to the lovely owner of this outstanding restaurant. We were visiting the city this week and were mistakenly led to believe that this was a Turkish restaurant! It wasn’t until after we considered the name, Jericho, and realized its owner is Palestinian. Our apologies, Omar! The food was perfect and served with such care and love. If we lived in Ottawa, it would become our favourite restaurant for authentic Middle Eastern food. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Omar! If you haven’t been, you’re missing out on a real gem.“

“The food is great, and the staff is kind. The service is pretty good, but not perfect. When we called to ask if we could come in a few minutes, the guy interrupted to say «no» and then he hung up. He probably thought it was a prank call or something. Also, I asked for regular sauce and he put spicy sauce. But the place was nice, and I enjoyed eating there.“

“The Fattoush is amazing but unfortunately since our return to work the portions for the fattoush salad are much smaller and for the price of almost $15 it’s difficult to justify. Prior to the pandemic the fattoush portion used to be worth while. I know prices are climbing in everything but dissapointed in the portion size.“

“Sometimes you forget to put up a review because you get very busy but I am aware that they do help small business so this is mine. We have lived on Arch st. since 2009 and are going to move in the spring this restaurant has been our go to as long as we've been here the food is always amazingly fresh the portions crazy big when ordering the family meals we always had enough left overs to enjoy the next day. I will very much miss being down the street. I'm sure even though I won't be as close I will sneak back from time to time. “We really enjoyed our first try of the shawarma from this place! Very friendly staff, clean and tidy location, generous portions, and great taste, with good value for what we paid! I love the garlic potatoes, they are tossed in actually garlic and herbs that just taste so fresh and fragrant. The sauce is nice and thick. The spicy garlic sauce is a nice touch too, not too spicy and adds a new flavor to the potatoes and sandwich. We were pleasantly surprised and will be back for sure :)“

“I've been here many times and I have never had a bad experience. The chicken is always juicy and flavourful the vegetables are fresh and the garlic sauce is frankly amazing. The prices are also very reasonable for size of the portions and the quality of the food. Once I even left a tip of 1 dollar and I was given free potatoes and garlic sauce. However yes the cook does make your food without gloves but everything I've went he's washed his hands beforehand, and some stuff is warmed up in the microwave but it still tastes AMAZING! Definetly check it out you will NOT be disappointed.“
