This is one of our favourite restaurants, never disappoints! The cheese fondue paired with beef bourguignon for two was excellent, the steak frites are always top notch and the pasta was very good too, flavourful! We love the food and atmosphere! Richard was our server and very professional, attentive and friendly!

The chairs are a bit low for the table and they could use a coat room or rack. Other than that the food was amazing, the service was top shelf and the ambiance is perfect for date night. We had the dinner for two which included the the fondue and the beef wellington. We were very impressed and the food is incredible. We are looking forward to coming back and trying the al a carte menu as well This a jewel in the restaurant world here in ottawa. Strongly recommend

The little touches made this a great experience - our table was by the door and a blanket was provided in case we were chilly (not needed BTW). Richard (?) our server was great, fully informed, attentive and super helpful. I will be back to sample the fondue as no-one in my party wanted it and it was a 2-person minimum! The soups, pate, salmon and the steak frites got rave reviews from our party.

The cheese fondue is very large but it's delicious so two of us ate the whole thing. We asked for crudite with it so we didn't eat quite so much bread. We had steak and frites for mains and they were also excellent. There's a busy vibe on a Friday night. We left feeling very full and very happy.

This visit I enjoyed the roasted salmon. I always get the steak and frites, but thought I'd try something else. It was very good and would definitely recommend it. My friend had the steak and he said it was on point. His only hmm moment, was the mayo that came this time with the meal. It was a horseradish based mayo and not the traditional mayonnaise that we have enjoyed on past visits; now in fairness it has been 11 months since our last visit and perhaps Absinthe has changed things up. Next time, I will ask if the traditional mayonnaise is still available when I order the steak and frites. Absinthe is a neighbourhood gem and with the increase cost of going out to eat, it is wonderful to know Absinthe continues to provide a tasty dining experience that is worth the price.

The food is creative, delicious, beautifully plated. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Great place for quiet dinner, or a group. The food is the real star. Will definitely go back very soon.

This was our first visit to Absinthe. We had the Beef Wellington Table d'hôte and every course was delicious. The only observation would be that it was too much food - that was solved with takeout containers. Our server, Bonnie, took the time to explain every option every step of the way. We will return soon to try the A la carte menu.

We had the beef burger and fries with the artisan salad - so delicious and service was fast! It was a quiet night, we could have been seated further from a table of 3 which was quite noisy. We will return!

Beef Wellington and beef stroganoff were delicious. Crème brûlée with shortbread cookie very nice. Top drawer. Was disappointed by the size of the scallop appetizer. 3 small scallops. Delicious sauce, but too small a serving for the price.
