Best Korean food in the city. I haven't been to Alirang since they closed down the Centertown location until last night. The trip out to Nepean was worth it.

Really delicious dishes. Great service. I've had better variety of panchan but it was still very good and tasty. Kalbi short ribs were a bit too salty for my taste but the rest of the table loved it. Absolutely loved the kimchi pancake, tteokbokki, and the bibimbap!

As KDrama and Korean food fans, my partner and I love to eat here. They have a selection of authentic Korean dish to offer. We have been here a couple of times now for lunch and it did not disappoint. It’s great for all group sizes. The people are also very polite. Definitely recommended place to eat.

We enjoyed our main dishes (galbi and seafood soondubu) and the banchan (kimchi, gamja jorim, and sukjunamul-muchim). I'm not sure the name of the hot drink they served, but it was comforting on a cold day.
Getting our food was a bit slow, but it was packed that evening, so it was understandable. The servers were all attentive and kind.
Highly recommend trying them out if you haven't already! Hope to try one of their hot pot dishes next time.
Overall, a great choice if you’re craving Korean food done right. I’d definitely come back to try more items on the menu.

Good place to eat with friends. The air inside is a bit spicy if you know what I mean so prepare to sneeze a lot, but overall very good food and good staffs.

6 of us went for lunch. I ordered grilled pork. The dish was delicious and hot, it was still sizzling when the server put it on the table. They also offer some free side dishes. Service was also nice. Note the restaurant doesn't take reservations.

Solid spot for dinner. The ribs were fire - super flavorful and easily the best thing we ordered. The Korean army stew hotpot was mid and honestly not worth it for the price. Seafood pancake was okay, nothing special but decent. Overall a nice place with a good vibe, just a bit hit or miss on some dishes. Would come back mainly for the ribs.

A highly recommended Korean restaurant in Ottawa offering generous portion sizes. They serve excellent soups and stir-fry dishes. All the staff are genuinely friendly, creating such a warm and inviting atmosphere—you'll feel right at home. It's a perfect spot for family gatherings too.

The quality of this place is worse every time I come . There is no authentic flavor it’s like a mix mash of whatever spices they have . This to me is not authentic Korean food .

Alirang is a long-standing favourite for a reason. It offers authentic, satisfying Korean comfort food in a busy, lively atmosphere. While the focus isn't on fancy modern decor, it’s the kind of unpretentious spot where you know the kitchen is focused entirely on flavour and quality ingredients. The portions here are incredibly generous, providing excellent value for the price. The banchan (side dishes) were fresh and varied, which is always a great sign. We ordered the cheese chicken galbi and the gamjatang. The gamjatang was good, however the flavour for the chicken was not what I had hoped. This dish is better with pork belly and squid. However, the main issue with the dish was that there were very large pieces of cabbage which was not enjoyable and made it hard to stir the dish. The service staff were polite and friendly, managing the busy room well. While it can get crowded during peak hours, the experience is consistent. If you’re craving authentic Korean cuisine, give Alirang on Merivale a try for yourself.
