Excellent food and service all around and exactly what you expect and more.
The women there very rude with delivery drivers 00000 she prefers to cancel the pick up and late the food there for 20 25 minutes to another driver to pick up the order in a bag cold after all this time of waiting
Great classic dinner, good food and coffee.
If you're not going to Al's, you're making the wrong decision.
Best value for a good sit down breakfast I've had in the City in years. Service is great too.
Last summer, we sat outside, the server walked by twice; after about 8 minutes we left and walked down the street 40 yards where we were served like royalty. She was an older person, so maybe she forgot about us, twice, so it's not their fault for not overseeing and managing their business properly. We will try again this summer in the hopes that they will have improved their service wait times.
My kid went with a teacher and other girls. They added tip on her bill (without asking) and were super rude with the group. Not nice to treat 14 yrs old girls in that way.
The food is decent but the seating makes no sense. They offered us a 4 seats for 2 people in the back but not by the window. What is the difference? The only other option is be jammed up against a pandemic era plexiglass. They act like they're doing you a favor allowing you to spend money there. So weird.
Edit: My bad, apparently if I was in the business I would understand why 2 people can sit at a 4 seater table if they sit in the back away from a window, but the same two people can't sit in one of the many empty 4 seater tables by a window, taking up the exact same amount of space, unless they bring someone else. Glad we got that cleared up.

Love this place but don't live near enough to go as often as I'd like. Went for lunch with my dad a couple of weeks ago, big bowl of excellent pea soup, server was very nice to us. Yesterday I was in the neighbourhood around 7:30 and decided to stop in for breakfast, had an excellent malted waffle, side of sausage. I'm not sure where they source their breakfast sausage but it's just different enough from other diners for me to notice and appreciate it. Frequent coffee top-ups, attentive service without being pesky; prices, to me, are very reasonable for what you get (some of the menu is downright cheap by today's standards). Will be back any time I have the chance.

Started going to this place with the guys as our new spot for breakfast. Everything was great until about two months later.
Owner is a bit of an ass. I get they have "policies", but he kept me standing and waiting until my party got there. Place was not full at all. Again, I understand his reasoning for his business, but I've been allowed to wait at my table numerous times before at this location; maybe when he wasn't around.
My issue is, at least offer me a bar seat and cup of coffee while I wait. The attitude didn't help either, just argued with me, and it didn't seem like he wanted our business.
It's sad because the food was good, but a little pricey. Waitresses were friendly, except one.
Maybe you'll be treated better then I was.
Enjoy.

Quick, cheap, and very nice tasting breakfast. Lots of nice diners in this area and this one is one of the best! Really busy but not a long wait at all, and a nice atmosphere inside. Coffee was included with breakfast and they came by to refill our cups multiple times.
Dietary restrictions: Pork-free option available for meat (turkey bacon, smoked meat and the beans weren't cooked in pork)

Went for 60 cent wings night and can say you have a customer for life. The atmosphere, staff and food are beyond amazing. Mo was taking care of us, but Kiersten was chipping in every chance she got as well. Tim wasn’t even on the clock and was helping as well. I love everything about Al’s diner and can’t wait to come back and try more!
