Incredible menu, we were a group of 4 and shared a bunch of appetizers, then a steak to finish it off. The apps were all incredible (zucchini sticks, tuna tartare, French onion soup, crab stuffed mushrooms, ceasar salad).
The steaks were phenomenal, service was excellent as always. It was a little loud in the dinning room but still an awesome vibe. Would recommend to anyone and we're going back soon.

We had such a wonderful experience thanks to our amazing waitress, Marika! From the moment we sat down, she was warm, friendly, and attentive without ever being intrusive. She knew the menu inside and out, gave thoughtful recommendations, and made sure our drinks and meals arrived promptly. What stood out the most was her genuine kindness—she made us feel truly welcome and cared for. Small touches, like checking in at just the right moments and remembering details from our order, really elevated the evening.

What a wonderful restaurant! This place might just have become one of my favourites in O-Town. The Steak on Kayser with peppercorn sauce was absolutely delicious, and the blueberry cheesecake was to die for. I also really appreciated our server, Marika! She was incredibly lovely and attentive. Genuinely, no notes... and I’m not that easy to impress!

Four of us dined at Al’s last night and had a mostly good experience. We sat at the bar area on plush furniture. It was definitely a cozy feel on such a slushy night. The calamari was the best in recent memory and the cocktails hit the spot. I tried the green pepper steak and my wife had a filet with mashed potatoes. Everyone’s steak was tender and cooked to perfection. The only problem were the rolls which were quite hard. The butter was presented in little balls that were too hard to spread… cafeteria style. Our waiter, Hasan, was good at bringing requested items to the table but lacked the skills to provide a pleasant atmosphere. He brought flatware without being wrapped in a cloth napkin and lime wedges on paper napkins. These may sound like nit picky complaints but considering the calibre and price of this restaurant, one would have expected a bit more attention to detail. Furthermore, after the food was served, he disappeared for long stretches of time. He also failed to offer dessert and coffee. We certainly had to ask for the bill which had items incorrectly divided between the two couples. He was not the one who presented the bill for final transaction. (Why was the ink such a light shade? Tricky to make out the charges in the dim light.) When the four of us left, and passed our server, there was zero acknowledgment as to wishing us a good night… this is after the table dropped around $50 as a tip. Zero gratitude either. Although I’m sure we will return at some point in the future for drinks and appetizers… we will be on the lookout for this server to avoid him. Or maybe by then he will have gained more experience and represent the quality the rest of the establishment seems to possess.

My wife and I decided to give this establishment another try and dined there around 3;30pm in the main dining room. The second time was the charm as we were promptly greeted by our server (her name escapes me at the moment). Due to the time of day, we had a private meal (until about 4:30). I tried a cocktail called Lemon Meringue which was a spot-on imitation of the dessert. The calamari was crispy and plentiful and the short rib was tender. My wife chose the steak with frites… cooked and seasoned to perfection. Although I had indicated we were celebrating our anniversary, I was surprised when our server brought out a lovely piece of coconut cake (complementary) with a sparkler to help commemorate the occasion. We stayed approximately two hours and enjoyed every sip and bite. Al… you have been totally redeemed and we will definitely consider returning for our next special occasion. 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My husband and I were celebrating our 60th anniversary and we wanted go for a great steak. We had been to Al’s before but it was many years ago and before the place renovated/ updated. We were staying at the Chateau Laurier Gold floor as a special treat and they took care of the reservations for us. Alas, we were extremely disappointed with both the service and food. We had reservations for 7:30 and we were promptly seated and that was the only thing that was prompt.We ordered a Caesar salad, and calamari, it took over 30 minutes to offer us bread and another 45 minutes to bring the salad. We never got the calamari. When we inquired about the calamari the server expressed shock and went to see what was happening . She then came back and told us the kitchen was backed up and we should receive it soon. Another 30 minutes later she returned and said it won’t be long, she did apologize and told us it will be complimentary. It is now 9:15 . We decided to decline the complimentary calamari as now we just wanted our steak and sides which we assumed should arrive shortly. Then lo and behold she arrives with the calamari and said the chef insisted, all well and good but 2 minutes later our steaks were served as well.The calamari was to be an appetizer not a side to the main meal . I had the baked potato all dressed which turned out to be a baked ( I assume) and removed from the shell and mashed , it was terrible. My husband had the garlic rice with no garlic The steaks, however , were excellent . We left the restaurant at 10.00 . It took over 2 hours just to get our meal, and the restaurant was not full, there were several empty tables. That is not acceptable especially in view of the prices charged. We love Ottawa and will be back but not to Al’s

Last minute decision to hit Al’s after a fun celebration of life. It was a busy Saturday early evening at A’s. There were five of us, we were able to sit at our favourite high top in the bar. We were told we could only be the table for 1.5 hours because there was a reservation coming in at a certain time, we had no problem with that. Food was excellent, everything we ordered was cooked perfectly. Steaks & seafood were our mains. But I want to give a huge shout out to our server, Tennille. She was on point! Her personality combined with her knowledge of the food menu & wine list was refreshing. You could tell she enjoys her job, and it shows.

everyone works hard and takes care of you multiple staff re cleaning everything feom wine glasses to cutlery to ensure a quality outing to Al's....awesome as always went there as a kid with my parents when they even had a guard in the parking lot taking care of your car 5 stars across the board

I got the green pepper steak and a bathwater cocktail which both exceeded my expectations. Ambiance and decor are great but the pricing isn’t pretentious at all.
