I was in the area looking for some coffee and came across this place by chance. It was a pleasant surprise to find there was a live jazz presentation. I checked their instagram page and they do all sort of activities. Will 100% come back.
Coffee was good too.

Beautiful atmosphere in the back. The food is ok as well. The reason for 2 stars is because more than 4 times now I’ve tried to come in and even though it says on google here that they’re open, the doors are locked! Too many tries now so I’m not likely to come by again.

A gem hiding in Vanier!!
Excellent food -> have the Eggs Benedict (the Hollandaise sauce was to die for!) and western sandwich (such excellent comfort food!).
The espresso was devine and latte was pristine!
The main room has so many interesting displays. And they do live music and comedy...
If only I had a set of table ware like they have!

Updated Review: We have returned twice since our first positive visits, and were sadly disappointed both times. The quality of the food is inconsistent, portion sizes changed significantly, and my partner was served am almost laughably terrible looking/textured pancake. Would caution against visiting on weekends, if you are in any time crunch or if you want more than a coffee and bakery item at this point.
We once waited over an hour for a basic breakfast, despite being only one of two tables in the restaurant with no one touching base with us or acknowledging the delay.
Like others, we wish Anina's well and hope they sort out quality control, staffing, and consistency issues. It's such a neat space.
Original 5 Star Review: Anina’s Cafe is a lovely gem tucked away in Vanier. The back room is so cozy, full of art, comfy couches and tables. It’s a very lovely atmosphere. There are lots of vegan options on the menu as well. The carrot bacon is really neat!

Cute spot for locals to get home cooked food. Nothing spectacular but if you need a quick meal it’s a solid spot. The service is very friendly and the place has a unique vibe to it—feels like grandmas house.

We came here randomly when in the area, and were delighted to find this gem. Delicious breakfast food, and lovely summer specialty drinks that the whole family enjoyed. Interesting art and artifacts in the area we sat in.

Took 45 min to get us our meal. I see this is not an isolated incident, as reviews 2 months ago indicate the same. No staff members checked up on us. I had to go to the counter to ask for a top up of my coffee. Not sure if it’s severe understaffing, but genuinely disappointed, especially considering how much we paid. The manager(?) didn’t offer any explanation and just a quick apology as he served us our food.
Astonishingly, there was a piece of egg shell in my breakfast.
Don’t bother coming here until they figure out the fundamentals. Your time is valuable. They will waste your entire morning.

Anina’s is one of those neighbourhood gems I find myself returning to again and again. Nestled in Vanier, it’s a cozy and eclectic café filled with vibrant artwork, friendly faces, and a sense of comfort that makes it an easy favourite.
There’s a real thoughtfulness to the layout here. Whether you're popping in to write, meet a friend, or just enjoy a quiet moment, there’s a spot that fits. The chairs are padded and armless (hello, comfort!), and the long wooden bench up front by the sunny window is a perfect perch. In the back room, you’ll find two of the couches are surprisingly supportive—easy to sit on and get up from without sinking too low. A nice win for anyone who needs sturdy, cozy seating.
The bathroom is impressively spacious, with grab bars and a higher toilet, which makes accessibility feel like a priority, not an afterthought.
Yes, food can take a little time—but that’s part of the vibe. Anina’s isn’t a fast food stop. It’s a place to slow down. The service is always warm and welcoming, and the energy of the space invites you to settle in.
Favourites? The lavender latte and chai latte are top-tier. If you’re lucky, you’ll visit on a day when their house-made jam or hot sauce is available—both are phenomenal. I first tried them with a chef friend, and we were both blown away.
I’ve also been to their Jazz Brunch, which was a delight. We had breakfast in the sunny front room, then lingered with cookies and lattes on a couch in the back while the musicians played. It felt like an invitation to stay awhile—and we did.
This is a place with heart. If you're in the area and want somewhere welcoming, art-filled, and full of good flavour, Anina’s is well worth the visit.

The club is delicious. The browned butter Caramilk cookies are fabulous. The atmosphere is nice. The espresso wasn’t to my taste, but seemed technically sound. Many vegan options .Worth the detour

Bern there many times for breakfast, home fries and the carrot bacon are stand outs. The eggs Benny is excellent. Also been to the sile t book club and lots of fun. Highly recommend. It's a small family business and they are working hard to serve good quality food. Luv the coffee too.
