Quaint elegance on Somerset. I started with the fresh, perfectly prepared beet salad, followed by the turbot. They did a really good job dealing with food intolerances. My friends both started with the scalloped tartar and we're raving about it. The bartender explained orange wine to me passionately and I finally sampled one here. But for me the highlight was the vanilla panna cotta with strawberry rhubarb. I don't think enough people use rhubarb in cooking. Service is excellent.

We recently dined at Arlo in Ottawa, and while the atmosphere and service were generally good, we left feeling somewhat underwhelmed. The menu was more limited than we had anticipated — just one main course option and two appetizers, which felt restrictive given Arlo’s reputation.
Additionally, we encountered an unfortunate issue with parking. We were informed beforehand that parking in the back lot was allowed, but we still ended up with a ticket, adding an unexpected $80 to our night, on top of the $65 tip we had already included. This left a sour note on what was meant to be a pleasant evening.
While Arlo has its charm, I would recommend that anyone considering dining here double-check the parking situation to avoid an experience like ours.

We reserved the private room upstairs for a joint birthday party with 22 of our friends. Emily, the event coordinator, helped us with every detail including creating a menu accommodating a long list of dietary requests. The room was set up beautifully when we arrived, the server helped us with our wine selections for the the group and the atmosphere was perfect for a cocktail hour. Then we sat for a family style 3 course meal which was amazing! Everyone raved about the food and the service was exceptional. Would highly recommend Arlo for a dinner and any special event.

Arlo continues to be one of my favorite spots in Ottawa. One of the things I always appreciate is that most of the staff can speak French, which is such a huge plus! The wine and the food always hits the mark —it’s clear a lot of effort and passion goes into every details.
And let’s talk about the décor—Wine bottle with candles is usually so corny, but Arlo is the only place where they really make it work.
A special mention goes to François, who always makes my visits even better. His welcoming nature and extensive knowledge of wine make him an absolute standout.
Overall, Arlo is a consistent winner. Well done Arlo 10/10.

It was very loud, which was not something the restaurant controls, unfortunately. the porcini was a very fatty cut of meat making it a very difficult thing to swallow,. I have parkinsons and swallowing can be diffivult. I actually had to ask my date to cut my meat for me my date enjiyed her fish plate, the lobster-stuffed eggplant, and her gin.
