The lamb was half cooked. The food had no salt and no taste at all. I wouldn't recommend.

the ginger cardamom tea and mango juice are made fresh to order—very delicious.

I decided to try this neighbourhood restaurant before the tax holiday ended. I ordered the beef stew for takeout; it was pretty good and not spicy (a plus for me). Paying for the order was a bit sketchy, however. I was told the price, but had trouble hearing it because of the fellow's accent; I assumed it was $15, because that was the price on both the website and the giant menu pasted to the window. The machine wasn't turned to face me, but I foolishly tapped my card anyway (a mistake I will never make again). After leaving the restaurant, I glanced at the receipt and realized I had been charged $18. So much for benefiting from the tax holiday!

Place was dark, really uninviting. I ordered sambusa that was sitting in a supposed warmer but was served cold. Super disappointed and hope that they will take measures to serve food safely at the right temperatures.

Beef / lamb both extremely dry. I came end of the day but I shouldn’t have been served stale and dried out jerky. Portion sizes were not comparable, I got a lot of old tasting gamey lamb, but small amount of dried beef. Not worth the money I paid ($36) should have been no more than $20. Menu price also listed it different so I was scammed for older food. I have to be honest and share how bad the food was because I think the value of what I got for what I paid is haram. Sorry.

A literal staple for me ever since I moved to Ottawa. The beef stew and rice and a comfort meal, and the bur and samosas pair perfectly with chai.

The food here is simply amazing …. If you have never tried Somali (East African) cuisine I suggest you run to ASAL right now and place your order (or order through Uber eats/Skip etc whatever you prefer) … their food will change your life … go early as they will sell out the food is just that good and made to order I should add … you must try a sambusa or 2 or 3 … what are you waiting for order NOW you’ll be happy you did!!!

The most authentic Somali food in Ottawa as of yet. I ordered Samosa's for my work potluck and it was definitely a hit! I also got a plate of rice and meat and it was very delicious and properly seasoned. I will be returning here more often!
