I decided to try this neighbourhood restaurant before the tax holiday ended. I ordered the beef stew for takeout; it was pretty good and not spicy (a plus for me). Paying for the order was a bit sketchy, however. I was told the price, but had trouble hearing it because of the fellow's accent; I assumed it was $15, because that was the price on both the website and the giant menu pasted to the window. The machine wasn't turned to face me, but I foolishly tapped my card...
The food here is simply amazing …. If you have never tried Somali (East African) cuisine I suggest you run to ASAL right now and place your order (or order through Uber eats/Skip etc whatever you prefer) … their food will change your life … go early as they will sell out the food is just that good and made to order I should add … you must try a sambusa or 2 or 3 … what are you waiting for order NOW you’ll be happy you did!!!

The most authentic Somali food in Ottawa as of yet. I ordered Samosa's for my work potluck and it was definitely a hit! I also got a plate of rice and meat and it was very delicious and properly seasoned. I will be returning here more often!
