I had an outstanding dining experience at BECKTA Dining & Wine Bar in downtown Ottawa. The service was super warm, welcome and inviting.
For the mains, both dishes were exceptional. The seared duck magret and hanger steak were both cooked to perfection. They were both flavourful juicy with the nice vegetables and sauces. The matcha lime cake was absolutely superb.refreshing and unique, A dessert worth coming back for on its own.

Had a lovely evening dining solo at the bar. The young lady behind the bar was a fantastic hostess, let me try several wines and the food was outstanding, although one person should not be allowed to eat that much bread.
Meals were delicious and ambience was lovely. Servers were professional and thorough. Thank you all so much!
Beckta was incredible, the staff was friendly, the space was beautiful and the management was very accommodating; we all felt very grateful for our experience! We will definitely be going back.
Beckta never fails to deliver! Their take on burrata was unique and exquisite, including golden beets and plums. Brilliant! And the Quebec pork has become my husband's new favourite Beckta main! Service was warm, friendly, knowledgeable and inviting. I couldn't have chosen a better place for a lovely and intimate birthday celebration for my husband. Thank you, Beckta!
Excellent service, the duck was superb. I was delighted that they had an alcohol free sparkling white wine.
Our server was quite fine in an of himself. However the service itself was delayed, in part I believe because of a private event occurring at the same time. The volume and quality of the music from this event was jarring. I'd try it again but it wasn't the type of experience I would have expected.
Our favourite spot for dinner in Ottawa. Excellent service, fabulous food and a relaxed atmosphere.
Great food and service. Lots of Canadian wines on the list at decent prices. The steak tartare is a standout.

We went to Beckta to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, and it was truly a memorable evening. When making our reservation, I mentioned it was our anniversary and asked for a little decoration. To our surprise, we arrived to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for us — coincidentally, the same kind my wife had on our wedding day. They kindly offered it to us as a gift in a lovely pot, which was such a thoughtful touch. The service was attentive, the food excellent, and the ambience quiet and romantic, exactly what we were hoping for. The charcuterie board was an absolute 10. The only downside was a small inconvenience at the end that slightly broke the mood, but overall, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend Beckta for any special occasion!
As always Beckta never disappoints. From the moment you walk in the door, you're greeted with a smile, and the service is friendly and genuine. Food is delicious and worth every penny! Overall a fantastic experience!!!
I eat at a lot of places and figured this would be a good spot based on reviews. Steak was tough, flavor ok. Crispy mushrooms were almost inedible. Terribly dry. Needed water after every bite. Atmosphere good. Waiter not terribly friendly at all. There were 3 of us and we all felt the same. Quite disappointed
We ate here on our trip to Ottawa from the UK/France to visit family members. We asked them to choose a restaurant so that we could take them out for a special meal. However, the restaurant was a huge disappointment and terrible value. We were seated in an upstairs room that was on the cold side, both in ambiance and temperature. We noted that one of the two other tables kept their overcoats on throughout the meal. We waited far too long to be served. After being at the table for just under an hour and with no sign of our starters, we had to ask for some bread. There were no nuts or amuse-bouche served whilst we were waiting, despite our family friends having cocktails and we had started on the white wine. The waitress(es) were pleasant and keen but were either very recent additions or had received inadequate training. The wines (we ordered a bottle of red and white) were kept out of reach but our glasses were not kept topped up. When they were topped up, they were over-filled. Worse, towards the end of the main course, a waitress topped up my glass but mistakenly used a bottle (well, the dregs of the bottle) from another table. When I pointed out the error, she was apologetic and took away the glass of now 'mixed' wines and brought a new glass which she filled from our bottle; there was no offer to replace the wine that had remained in my glass before she added the wrong wine. They removed the finished plates from three of us whilst my wife was still eating. They then proceeded to bring cutlery for the main dishes although she had still not finished her starter. The food was adequate, nothing more, and the choice fairly limited. The bill was high and certainly was not warranted (over $600 for 4 of us) We expected much better and won't return. Avoid.
This was our 2nd time in 1 year and this time we were disapointed. Since our 1st time arorund was amazing, we had certain expectations qnd unfortunately, they were not met. The menu was ordinary as well as the food. The waiters were not as enthusisastic and kind and the overall experience was just ok.
