Beyond the Pale Brewing Company

BTP hosted our 10 year anniversary for the Ottawa Tool Library and it was epic. BTP has always been one of our biggest supporters. I’ve been before with friends and going back next week. Food and staff are great, amazing vibe.

Great beer, only complaint is there isn't enough housing nearby. Maybe the giant empty parking lot could be used for something productive like places for people to live and start businesses

Expensive, small portions, pilsner was flat, confusing ordering system. Staff doesn't check in with you or ask how things were, took forever to get the cheque. Won't be back.

You have to view the menu on your phone using a QR code, order online, and pre-pay. What?! Order ONLINE? Pre-pay with tip BEFORE you’ve been served? I’ll go to a pub instead that does it the “old fashioned” way, thank you very much. You know. Where you order from a PERSON and get the bill when you’re DONE.

This is a great pub with a massive dog friendly patio. The beers were really good, the food was excellent (jerk chicken and chicken sandwich!)
The reason I’m giving this only 4 stars is that it’s not table service, you order through the QR code and they bring everything to you. However, when you pay online, you tip before receiving your beer, food or service which is hard concept for me to get used too.
With that being said, the beers and food came out quickly, and there was always someone walking around to check on you.

Went here for lunch with a friend, thought it looked great. I had to order myself using a QR code. Pay up front and tip. The smallest suggestion was 18%! For what? So far, I’ve done all the work. I should get the tip! Food was ok. Not sure if it was made in house or came frozen in a box. Beer was great. I will not be back. Sad, really.

The Nashville burger - If you’re a fan of bold flavors and a little bit of heat, this burger is an absolute must try. It’s more than just a meal, it’s an experience. Will be back 100% just for that burger.

I've been to Beyond the Pale a couple of times now - great beers and a nice big patio to enjoy with friends! I enjoyed the taco and cauliflower wings I tried out, also - very enjoyable and portion size was satisfying. I appreciated the efficiency of their ordering system (placing orders through the phone) - this made for a much quicker experience than trying to chase down a server for ordering and payment on a very busy night (Sea Shanty Collective night - do check that out! It's fabulous!). I appreciated that on a quieter evening there was table service.

Not the greatest experience. Didn't have any outdoor seating, which we requested. They said they'd text us when there's a table open outside for us and never collected our phone number. We were told we had to order through the QR code and pay online but then a server came around and seemed confused that we did that. The food took about 45 minutes to arrive after drinks. Beer was good. Food was okay. The menu didn't say the burger had mayo on it and because we ordered it online there wasn't a way to modify the order. That ruined it for my partner who hates mayo. Don't even get me started on the parking situation. $40 to park just to eat here. Not coming back anytime soon .

We're having an absolutely wonderful experience here tonight. We're big fans of the QR code system and the team has been beyond excellent and attentive throughout our evening here. We're blown away by the standard the team has set tonight and we look forward to the next time we come here, as the service has been friendly and helpful and the team has not missed a beat. Also, bonus, the patio is dog friendly and the staff have been, once again, beyond friendly and attentive. The food and beer is delicious too but seriously the staff, nothing but good things to say.

Stumbled upon this place after googling "dog friendly patio" and very very pleasanyltly surprised! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The patio is in a parking lot but does not feel like it - they created a very homey feeling with fake grass, cozy lighting and nice sun blockers. The employees brought water bowls for our dog and offered good recommendations for food and beer, which were delicious.
10/10 would recommend and will be back again :)

Why am I waiting 50 minutes after everyone else in the party of 8 had finished the food. Ordered 2 mins after the rest to get some pulled pork and fries. My order was for me and my partner and I was able to finish my entire food before she got hers. Two people got poutines with a tablespoon worth of gravy (didn’t know there was a shortage?). Unfortunate considering place has a great location. Would not recommend.

Sitting at the restaurant while I write the review. My entire table got their food and finished it before me and another member even received food. Even though my boyfriend and I ordered at the exact same time on the same order. The food itself was small. My club chicken was so tiny and had NO meat for $24. My boyfriend’s fries were butt cold. The other members at the table poutines they ordered had nooooo gravy. The beer is the only thing keeping this place in business. I have no idea why it’s so busy. Will never be coming back. As I write this one member of our table still doesn’t have food and the rest of the table finished 20 minutes ago.

It's a decent pub, lots of parking.
The only complaint is the super uncomfortable steel bar stools....get rid of them!
