Disappointed. The baked items were always "okay" in my view, but my wifed loved them, is go with her over the years nonetheless.

Yesterday (Dec 6th) being in the area after a surgery she stopped in for some treats for us.

Ordered a seasonal cone, a cinnamon snail, hazelnut/chocolate croissant and a almond & maple croissant.

The two croissants taste like cheap cheese. I was super disappointed, as they never tasted so generic/mediocre. The cheese taste takes over. For those reading, the cheese tastes similar to cheese sticks or croissants from Loblaws.

The wife was happy with her scone & snail though; she did hint at the snail being a bit cheesy - so I'm not crazy. I recall this place from years ago, I won't be getting anything, anymore, the quality has gone down with time (based on my taste).

Are you guys using Philly Cream Cheese as a bonder or base of puff pastry or something?

Great staff, sells local brands of coffee, teas, soft drinks, and canned cold brew. Great snacks made daily, too.

I used to live in Wellington West. Let me first say that BBU I think makes the best bread in Ottawa. Their service is and always has been awful. I moved further west four year ago and stopped going but today I was in the hood and stopped by. I did buy some bread but the service again was awful. Surly, offiensive counter staff. I think that is the last time I will shop there. I will go to Arnprior going forward to Mighty Fine Bakehouse for their not quite as good but excellent bread.

I got the hazelnut chocolate croissant and it was oily and smooshed. I don’t it is worth the $5. However, since this was my first time trying it out, I’ll go again and try something else next time. Maybe I got unlucky with a bad batch

Little focaccia pizzas, coffee, so many different loaves of bread, drinks, jarred products… they do it all.

Amazing fresh artisan bread. So good.

This is my 'go to' place for sourdough bread in Ottawa. The other breads and their focaccia are very good as well. I have to admit though that not all of their sweets align with my tastes so I tend to stick to their breads.

I love having Bread By Us in the neighbourhood. It's a treasure. Good bread, amazing pastries, especially the danish and scones. And it makes me happy to know that they pay their friendly servers a living wage and give back to the community.

Updating because this review was four years old. Still a fantastic bakery all around and the best bread in the city. Kamut Sourdough and Zatar Cheese sticks are my personal favourites.

Friendly kind staff, great selection of food, appreciate they carry beans and tea too. That zatar cheese bread is what dreams are made of. Go to desert is the cinnamon snail. Fingers crossed the new space is a lil bigger and still close by.
