I was there for a group event in early June, 2025. I had the Jambalaya. One other person at the same table made yhat same mistake. We both found it terrible. Overcooked pasta, low quality sauce. With rising food prices its difficult for restaurants these days so I have some sympathy. I wont be back though.
Afternoon coffee and dessert.
Visited the restaurant during the Tulip Festival. We were a party of 10. The restaurant sits beside the Rideau Canal, beautiful scenery. We sat inside under the window ceiling, where some windows have water damage. A few of our chairs were not sturdy and would need replacing. They may have a fire burning pizza oven, but the pizza meal chosen by one of our party members was not cooked properly, fortunately they removed the cost of the meal from the final bill. The initial beverage request from one of the members in our party was missed by the server, twice. Both male and female bathrooms were dirty and not well kept.
Food is pricey for the quantity found on your plate.
By the water such a beautiful place to eat and enjoy, food is amazing, and staff are lovely. Love this restaurant, Try the tortellini & fig pasta!
Never had given bad reviews before, but this is absolutely not an enjoyable experience, so I decided to leave one here. The fettuccine was noticeably clumped together which I had to spit out. Poor seasoning, my friend had to add salt and pepper herself to make it taste better, because it was like eating merely cream and noodle. The lemon flavored chicken was bitter. They should take this as a serious problem and make an improvement. Server is nice, she asked if there is anything she can do, but we didn’t want to spend any more time on this so we just paid and left.
After 35+ years in Ottawa we decided to go for Mothers Day. From the time we arrived in the parking lot to when we left we felt unwelcome and rushed despite a reservation. An older, balding man was rude, pushy and hovered over his staff. The food was mediocre and we doubt we will go back.
Great for lunch
Food is nothing to write about. My expectations were low to begin with but they fell short.
I usually don’t write negative reviews but the view is gorgeous. Maybe just go for a dessert or a beverage.
Parking is across the street in an empty lot
Tried this place once and never again. The food was mediocre and overpriced, and looks to be really popular with a certain demographic if that's your thing. It seriously looked like we were in an episode of cocoon.
poor service, reservation ignored and way overpriced - will never return !

Great place. The fettuccini with bacon and mushrooms is the best in Ottawa.
Great spot with a nice view on the canal. Delicious food, you need to try the Ritz Fettuccine, 10/10
I had a fantastic experience watching the skaters glide along the Rideau Canal. While I’m not a skater myself, my girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed covering about 6.5 km on the ice. I opted for a leisurely lunch with some wine, soaking in the beautiful canal views.
My waitress, Yola, was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and quick. I enjoyed a fresh salad with salmon, paired with a crisp Austrian white wine, followed by the indulgent Carrot Caramel and two rich espressos. A perfect way to take in the atmosphere without lacing up my skates!
Nicely positioned by the Rideau Canal. Great stop during our canal skating. The view of the canal from the inside is amazing!
The server was attentive and friendly.
The food came very fast. The Ritz burger was good. The meat tasted fresh and homemade. The bread was a but stale.
The pizza calabreza tasted like a home made pizza, very saucy and nice portions.
Atmosphere is welcoming.
My husband and I chose the Canal Ritz for a special occasion lunch today and had a wonderful experience ... we were greeted warmly, our server was friendly and the food of course was delicious (seafood fettuccine, Ritz fettuccine). We even had a chat with the owner and to our delight he presented us with a special dessert. Thank you Kalil,
Denise & Jacques
