Always the best. My wife and I go here for many our special occasions. We're lucky to have Ottawas best Portugeuese restaurant in Orleans (of all places)!

Not often that I’ll rave about a restaurant but this is different…
This place is AMAZING, both in quality of their food a the value.
In the current day & age of chain restaurants and even smaller places trying to cut corners, this restaurant stands head & shoulders above.
Small place so book early
We were actually turned away when I called asking for a table for 6 in 15 minutes (I know, I know…)
5 minutes later, my phone rang and it was the owner asking us to come after all but we had to mindful that he needed the table in 90 minutes.
We were there in 5 minutes and tucking into the best bread basket this side of Portugal.
The roast was great, the salmon was great and the lamb shank was simply amazing.
Nicely stocked bar too 😉
If you live in or visit Ottawa, you gotta eat here

Caravela’s is such a gem! The whole team here is amazing. The vibe is cozy, friendly, and full of good energy, making it the kind of spot you just want to keep coming back to. Caravela’s isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a place where you feel at home. Highly, highly recommend!

First time at this restaurant and we will certainly be back! The food is impeccable! Cooked fresh to order with so much flavour. We had excellent service and cannot compliment the chef/owner enough! 10/10

Caravella was our favourite restaurant for years but last two visits were everything changed. Last time cockroach comes to our table. Waiter killed it and we all pretend that nothing happened.
Yesterday it was cockroach on table again. My husband had two spoiled clams. My lamb shank was cold inside. Salad was not served at all. We were very disappointed, it was my husband’s birthday dinner.

My parents went to Caravela Restaurante in Orléans on Valentine’s Day expecting a special evening, but it was completely ruined by unacceptable treatment. Despite arriving before several other couples, they were ignored by the server while others who came in later were seated and served without delay. It took another guest pointing it out for their presence to even be acknowledged.
The service clearly prioritized a certain group of customers while treating others with far less care. This wasn’t just bad service—it felt like deliberate exclusion. In a public-facing business, that’s not only wrong, it raises serious concerns about discrimination.
As a pre-law student, I understand that this type of behavior may go beyond poor customer service and potentially violate the Ontario Human Rights Code, which protects individuals from discriminatory treatment in public establishments. Selectively ignoring guests based on who they are is a human rights issue—not just a customer service one.
This didn’t feel like a one-time mistake. The server’s behavior was too blatant, as though they’d acted this way before and never been held accountable. And when that happens, it’s not just the individual who’s responsible—it reflects on the management for allowing it.
Let this be a reminder: you never know who you're serving. Some people are lawyers or know the law well—and won’t hesitate to take action when they see discrimination. I’m considering filing a formal report to help ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Six of us for dinner at 730 pm. Restaurant seats around 24 or so, small space, was a little noisy but it might have been us...All of us have been to Portugal so hopes were high.
Food was excellent! Grilled octopus was tender and delicious, bacalhau was excellent, all seafood dishes were devoured completely and the service was friendly and fast. Limited bar selection but adequate for a small space. Of note was the Owner/chef Fernando, Executive Chef Latifa and our server Suzanne which made our dinner very special.

Have been going to this restaurant for several years. We do not go every weekend but at least 3 to 4 times a year. After our last visit, we decided it was best to move on. The food is very good overall and we have tried many different meals on the menu. The atmosphere is cozy, small restaurant. But, we have found the owner to be very particular of whom he addresses and we constantly have felt the welcome very underwhelming, as if we are insignificant. Now, running a small restaurant one would think you would welcome all patrons especially those who return regularly, with warmth. Not so for our experience.
