Fantastic authentic Mexican food, prepared by staff of true Mexican origin. The patio is beautiful and perfect for a relaxed meal. Don’t miss their Quesa Birrias and delicious authentic cocktails — ask the staff for recommendations, they really know their menu! Temo, one of the owners, is a true gem in the business. Highly recommended! 🌮🍹,Marco also kind with people. Staff are attentive!

Small portion sizes and not very flavourful. Overpriced for what it is.

This is a nice little Mexican place, though I did not find it to exhibit value for money. The prices were much higher than I expected, and the flavors, portion size and freshness lower than I anticipated. The tacos were pretty simple and not dressed with the range of fresh toppings that would have increased their appeal greatly. I always thought Mexican food was about fresh and abundant vegetables on top of underlying base of the dish, especially in fall harvest season, but things were fairly dry and you could tell it was prepared well in advance. I’m sure it’s difficult to run a restaurant and serve up fresh meals on demand but I think I could’ve done just as good a job making it myself at home which is why I didn’t give a higher rating.

The food was very disappointing, both poor in quality and overpriced. The avocado in the tortilla soup was unripe, and the chicken was barely noticeable due to the tiny portion. The beef in the arrachera plate was low-grade and tough, with barely any rice and beans (which seemed to come from a can). The birria soup was excessively salty, as if no care was taken in seasoning. We paid $88 for just two plates and an appetizer, and to make matters worse, we all left with headaches afterward. The food does not taste authentic Mexican at all.I am surprised they are still in business.

We came here excited to try Casa Mexico but left disappointed. We ordered two margaritas “not sweet,” yet they took about 20 minutes to arrive and were extremely sweet. We each ordered two tacos — I had the camarones tacos — and while eating, I found a mystery fried item inside that I didn’t order. When we asked about it, staff said it was “a little extra, like a gift,” yet we were charged for it.

Slow service, poor communication, and charging customers for something they didn’t order is not okay.

Upon reading other reviews, I see that the owner responds to them, so I think it's right for the owner and customers to know this. Thank you for your time in advance because this is an in depth review. I have visited the Merivale and Preston locations and ordered the same dessert, the platanitos (fried plantain with condensed milk) both times to-go. At Merivale, they were the perfect ripeness, perfectly cooked, and a great portion. At Preston, unfortunately, we (all 3 of us) after waiting a long time received a very small portion and some of them weren't fully ripe (therefore starchy and less sweet) or cooked right. I have attached labelled photos of the same item from both places, untouched, as it was when I opened the container. You can see I got probably about double the portion from the Merivale location. These visits were only about a month apart, so it's not like it was years difference and inflation or prices have changed. For $9 plus tax, at the Merivale location it's worth it but at Preston definitely not worth that much. We each counted about 6-7 small pieces. The customer service at Preston was also very poor. We felt as though we were a bother (since we were only there for dessert) because it was busy and we were even scared to ask our waitress for water, as it was never offered and she seemed to be irritable and in a rush. The entire restaurant and outside patio was occupied and I only saw 2 waitresses the entire time so her mood could be due to them having to keep up with the entire restaurant but that shouldn't be the paying customers problem if they're understaffed or busy. Typically when I read 1 star reviews I feel bad and think it's a bit harsh, but myself and the 2 others I went with honestly feel like that's what our experience was. If the waitress didn't make us feel so bad for something as simple as asking for water then I would have given 2-3 stars but with the combination of the food and service I can't. I hate to leave bad reviews but this was truly so disappointing. We even paid before getting the food because it was so busy and my mom and I each gave 15% tip as that's my basic default tip amount which I later regretted because with the service and food I would not have tipped at all as I heavily believe that tip should be based on service and food. If either isn't as good, I'm not giving the full 15%. If it's exceptional, I'll give 20%. In this case since we felt rushed and unwelcome, I don't like to say it but I would not have tipped her! To be clear, since we came only for dessert and only once, I cannot comment on the main meals or if other waiters/waitresses are better. This is just the experience I had this time but it was so bad that I was compelled to leave a review and we collectively agreed to not come again. I've been to Merivale multiple times for full main meals with drinks and desserts and never had any issues at all with food nor service and give them 5 stars. My conclusion from this, is go to the Merivale location if you want better customer service and food. Thank you again for your time to read this.

Visited Casa Mexico last night and was seated on the patio. When we sat down the waitress gave no indication that the restaurant was busy. Wr placed our orders for drinks and did not receive them for 30 minutes and checking in twice. The waitress came by with our drinks and let us know she was very busy. Most tables around us complained or left, we should have done the same….

Food was cold, tasted mediocre and very small portions for the cost. 3 TACOS DORADOS DE BARBACOA were appetizer size and came with no sides.

The fault is on us that we didn’t leave when we were ignored for such a long time.
One thing we noticed by sitting very close to the entrance is that at least 8 takeaway drivers arrived for food with little to no delay. Why if you are so busy and short staffed are you prioritizing the takeaway than the people sitting in your restaurant.
Really disappointed we wasted our time and money.
