Servers are always fantastic as is the food. Excellent vegan selection and they never disappoint. Quality is always top notch!
Favorite place to get burgers and chicken sandwiches.
I’m honestly not sure why there’s so much criticism of this place—Gburger – Gitanes Burger really impressed me! I tried their classic mini burger and the spicy chicken burger, and both were exceptional—definitely among my top 10 burgers in Ottawa. The spicy chicken burger was especially satisfying because it actually brought the heat, something many places skimp on.
One unique aspect of Gitanes is that their menu has three different prices for lunch, dinner, and late-night, which makes it a great spot for a late-night bite (it’s open as late as 2 a.m.!). In a city like Ottawa, places like this are rare and deserve to be treasured.
Their Gitanes burger, with its winter-friendly gravy, looked like a real treat for a cold evening—we didn’t try it this time, but it’s on my list for next time.
The real star of the show, though—and the reason I’m writing this review—was the Banana Split Sundae. It was a thing of beauty: caramelized bananas, rich chocolate sauce, peanuts, and whipped cream, all topped with a cherry. Each bite melted together perfectly and took me right back to the classic banana splits of childhood—only better. Truly, the best banana split I’ve ever had.
I’ll be back to try more from Gburger, but that banana split alone makes this place worthy of 5 stars.
I have the pickiest toddler eater and he absolutely crushed his g-burger. Loved it!! Great food.
Terrible service.
I had a great experience at your restaurant. Katie took care of me, and she was amazing, friendly and attentive. Big thanks to her and the team!
visited Gburger during Sunday happy hour and I had the spicy (vegetarian) chicken sandwich, my boyfriend had the double cheeseburger and we split a vegetarian poutine. while all the food was good, I was hoping this would be more of a gourmet burger spot but it felt like *slightly* elevated fast food for double the price. my boyfriend said he wished he just got McDonalds lol. however, this spot has really great vegetarian and vegan options! service and vibes were also good, I am just not sure the price point is worth it for me.
I came here with a large group of 14 and service was great for our table. We came when wine was half off so that was great and it’s rare to see orange wine on the menu so we were very happy about that.
The burgers and fries and milkshakes are super good though I do think their main burgers are a bit overpriced but I guess that’s what you get for gourmet burgers. Good experience overall, and the ambiance is nice in the evenings. The bar is super cute and there are two arcade games down the hallway towards the bathroom, which is kind of random.
If you’ve heard of this place, definitely worth checking out, but I don’t know that I would make it my regular burger spot just because there’s so many places to try in the city still!
Great service, good food.
They were understaffed with one person serving and hosting, but they were kind and delightful. The server gave us complimentary drinks and offered us the Happy Hour option, because of the labour shortage (mind you we only waited 10mins).
The Burgers were good but the spicy chicken burger was not a soft spicy but a direct hot, pepper sauce spicy. It would have been better of the burger could have been a tolerable and enjoyable level of spice.
I would come again to try their other options on the menu.

I rarely give bad reviews about food just cause I think if a place did something mid then it’s not really worth criticism. But in this case I thought I’d do a PSA with an honest review of Gburger. I ordered the buttermilk chicken burger, chicken nuggets and apple pie. Nuggets and apple pie were so-so, nothing exceptional but cost 2-3x what it would have cost at Macs and honestly I would have preferred macs. My real gripe though was with the burger - nothing was done right and I was so disappointed since this was an establishment that supposedly specialised in burgers. Starting with the burger buns, they were not buttery / crispy at all. I couldn’t tell if they were even charred on the pan - that deprived the burger from a good bite from the get go. Moving on to the slaw (which in fairness to Gburger can be removed upon request), the seasoning just didn’t make sense and I couldn’t get the direction they were going for. In any event, it simply did not pair well with the chicken. The chicken was done horribly. It was not crispy at all - I’m not sure what they did with the batter or the frying but that’s not a chicken burger to me. It felt like I was eating mashed potatoes at some point? The chicken patty was also so thin and not juicy. TLDR, save your money and have a burger anywhere else, give this place a pass. I was actually struggling to finish my burger just so I didn’t waste the money I had spent on it. The servers were quite nice and friendly tho but that’s about it.
Postscript: in response to Gburger, with all due respect, my gripe wasn’t that it was an “upscale” chicken burger. It was that it just was not well done…. Yes sure the sauce and all may have been carefully curated but there’s no point if the chicken isn’t even crispy or if it doesn’t pair well with the chicken. Also, touting past accomplishments sounds overly defensive rather than a genuine appreciation of a customer’s feedback. It’s akin to touting one’s high school accomplishments in university. Maybe your other burgers taste alright but I do hope you sample your buffalo chicken burger instead of being so defensive.
