Absolute worst service I’ve ever encountered. It’s 530 pm and we are walking Elgin st and decide to pop into deacons. A Slopped up bartender with greasy hair messy half bun seats us. I order a drink and she asks me if I’m ok?… says I’m acting “wirey” I am out with my father from Manitoba receiving treatment for cancer. I look at my dad as to say like what is she talking about!? She doubles down and asks are you ok? I say yes.l and let her know I feel very awkward. Her demeanor and tone was very rude. Insinuating I’m out of it or something. I’m disgusted with this place. Will never be back here and will pass along to everyone I know in Ottawa and Elgin st area.

Normally this place is good but both my friend and I found our food underwhelming

They denied me 2 glasses of milk please, what the heck, not cool.
Brutal service. Don’t waste your time. No clue what the food tastes like because they left me sitting for 30 mins after bringing a beer and I asked for a ‘few minutes to decide’ on food. Lots of other great pubs in the area! Venture elsewhere for a much better experience!

Something nefarious might have been added to my food. I ordered an item at tbe place, I enjoyed it much, so much I asked for one to go. Directly after eating the second order, copius amounts of foul and unnatural flatulence occurred. (Maybe fart powder, which I have also experienced at mexican resturants)

My 3 friends and I entered the bar at 10:30 pm on a Wednesday night. We got seated by a female server who was working alone that night with the bartender. WE WAITED 30 MIN AND SHE DIDNT EVEN CHECK UP ON US ONCE. I’ve never had this happen to me ever before at a bar. We got up and left

Best food ..my family came to visit me from the US...My sister ordered the fish and Chips..and raved about her order..Got to say..none of Us (4 people) where disappointed with our Food ordered... I gave staff a 3 star rating though..as our service was a little slow...but it can account they where very busy during our visit.

Went there a couple times for breakfast. The food was great. My only criticism would be if that traditional breakfast came with more potatoes. The service was really good as well. Came and checked on us a few times to refill our coffee.

The atmosphere here is great for a fun night out with friends, especially on a weekend! Since I live nearby, I often see people enjoying the outdoor tables during the summer. However, my experience wasn’t that great when we went for brunch. The quality was not good—just okay at best.

Waited 15min after being seated before we decided to leave. Wasn't too busy, but apparently too busy to take orders. Left and went to pizza pizza across the street, great pizza!

The Pros:
-the deep fried ravioli were fantastic
-decent prices and service
-cider on tap
-good pulled pork
The Cons
-my "clean" cutlery was dirty
-the pulled pork sandwich was good but really light on the pork
-the fries were undercooked and undersalted
-if we didn't have an appetizer, the mains would have left us hungry as the portions were rather small

Fabulous and authentic, canada meets scotland. This was the perfect stop for a pre-dinner draught beer and appetizer, then back out into the rain for a stroll to dinner. I so appreciate a locally owned and unique pub, and was quite impressed by their extensive Scotch whiskey collection!

Amazing food and friendly staff. Their Thanksgiving meal was like homemade with gravy and homemade cranberry sauce. Plus the price was great. I highly recommend Deacon Brodies for food and drinks! Ask Kelly to serve you. She’s amazing!
