“Jadeland is one of Ottawa’s truly iconic Chinese restaurants. A place that has built its reputation on consistency, generous portions, and genuinely wonderful staff. It’s rare these days to find a restaurant that delivers the same flavours, the same quality, and the same welcoming atmosphere decade after decade, but Jadeland has never missed a beat.

Growing up, birthdays in my family were always celebrated with Chinese food, and even as time passes and habits change, I still find myself craving Jadeland’s crispy noodles with shrimp when my birthday is around the corner. That dish has been a favourite for more than 20 years and still brings back that familiar feeling of celebration and comfort. Their General Tao chicken, crispy beef, salt‑and‑pepper shrimp (shell‑on), and of course the crispy noodles with shrimp have all been part of that long‑running tradition (each one giving me a hit of nostalgia every time).

One thing that makes Jadeland stand out is how good the food is whether you’re dining in or ordering takeout. Not every restaurant can pull that off, but their dishes hold up beautifully, retaining their flavour, texture, and quality no matter how you enjoy them.

Although I don’t eat there as often as I used to, that’s no reflection on the restaurant itself. Jadeland has maintained the same charm, warmth, and delicious food that made it a family favourite decades ago. It remains my number one Chinese restaurant in Ottawa, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.“

“Robot server was pretty neat. My food came quick and was of reasonable quality. I puked in the washroom after finishing dessert but I think that’s just a me thing. Prices are reasonable for lunch time all you can eat sushi and the selection wasn’t limited beyond normal expectations. One dish I appreciate them serving was ones with cream cheese; Rideau’s other AYCE sushi restaurant doesn’t have any cream cheese sushi.“

“Celebrated my brother in law's 50th birthday in a restaurant surprised me the first time I heard about the invite because this family loves food and making them well from scratch. Nonetheless Sea King Restaurant exceeded our expectations. We had a cosy room all to ourselves [ party of 11 adults] which is why it worked so well. Every single item that we ordered is good and has its distinct flavor., from the soup, to dimsum and mains, which is saying much because time and again, when you order this much variety, chances are the flavors are similar and just disappear into the next. Worth going back if you like fast service and delicious Chinese food.“
