This will become a weekly destination! It reminds me either of 90s Montreal neighbourhood restaurants in the Plateau Mont-Royal or straight out of Amelie Poulin movie. A wonderful addition to Sandy Hill!

Gosh, I really want this place to succeed. I’ve lived in Sandy Hill for almost 20 years and we’ve been really lacking a true neighborhood spot, an all-day cafe-resto with warm service and elevated comfort food. I’m excited to say that I think this is it. I’ve been a couple times now, and liked everything I’ve tasted. Very friendly servers too. The all-day classic breakfast is solid; the egg wrap is a delight of blistered tortilla, nicely cooked egg, spicy soy seasoning and crunchy corn chips; the rice hash bowl has great bites of crispy-chewy rice; and the wedge salad dressing is a wonderful blend of creamy and acidic. There are also lots of baked goods, which are solid but maybe not mind-blowing (again, this is largely comfort food). The only inconsistent thing is maybe the coffee — one day it was way too strong and bitter, and the next time it was more nicely balanced. Overall, I will be turning this into my regular spot. Can’t wait to go back and try the Sunday afternoon roast.

The food was amazing with a great selection and impeccable flavours. You can tell the two owners really put their loving care into this restaurant. The only downside would be the one main blonde waitress that they have. I’ve been to the restaurant four times now at all different times during the day, and day of week, and she’s been there every single time she provides awkward service that really dampens in the experience.

I will start by saying g that I really truly want this restaurant to succeed. I’ve been twice since it’s opening. The ambiance is great and the service is friendly. We went once on a busy Friday night and we did wait a while for everything: to order drinks, to order food and for food to arrive. We were not in a rush but you could tell service was scrambling and it was a bit chaotic. My second visit was at a quieter time and service was efficient. I hope they work out the kinks for a better client service experience on busy nights. Now, the food. It’s been hit and miss. On the first visit we had tacos, which were fine. It came with a corn salad that was outstanding. The sundae we had for desert was also outstanding and I’m still thinking about it days later. On my second visit, I had the fried chicken which was a miss. Unseasoned and bland. The cabbage salad it comes with had no flavour, no dressing. The potato side it came with was overcooked and dry, but tasty. I would not order it again. I was disappointed. All to say that this place is a great addition to the neighborhood and has a ton of potential. The service kinks need to be worked out and the food needs to be good across the board. I really Hope they make adjustments.
