I am so happy I found this little gem. Had the best Jamaican patties and plantains in YEARS!!!! You can tell it's made with love. And the guy running the place is an absolute gem. Can't wait to go back and try a few more items. Real Caribbean food and vibe!!!!

Today was one of my favorite Take-Out experiences to date. The food and service is authentic as it gets. The grill outside tells you all you need to know, you're home. Don't hesitate, don't think twice, just take the plunge straight into some oxtail w/ peas and rice. Little side of plantains and life is good.

Today was my first time visiting and mek mi tell unu someting this food was SO GOOD. This is by far my favourite Caribbean place in Ottawa. You cyan really taste the flavour and the portion sizes are perfect. Service was top notch, I walked in and felt like I was at home. The owner is so funny and talked to me like he's known me for years.

Big ups to Do Good Food!!

As one review states, you step in and just know you're in for good food. The owner is so welcoming and kind. I applaud the owner and cook for his authenticity, kindness and talent in bringing Jamaican flavor to us. We got the oxtail and jerk chicken (split) and wow. We are from Vancouver and very spoiled by good food there. We were struggling to find real authentic flavor in Ottawa and this šŸ‘ place šŸ‘ delivered! And then some. Rice is hot and juicy, dripping with spices. Spice level is perfect. Flavour is complex and authentic. My husband liked the oxtail best and I liked the chicken. Meat was fall off the bone, juicy and packed with spices. We drove to the beach (6 mins away) and ate there. We also got a spicy meat patty and loved it!!! The dough is slightly sweet yet so flavorful, and the meat is perfectly seasoned. Lastly, the coleslaw that comes with the meal is a perfect refresher.

I found this takeout joint through reddit and I have to say I’m glad we made the decision to go there. It’s a true definition of « hole in the wallĀ Ā» type of restaurant as it’s a really small spot, only for takeout, run by one chill Caribbean man and I kid you not, from the moment you step in, you know the food is gonna be lit. Even while standing outside, you know it too from the smell of the chicken grilling on the barbecue. We got the large jerk chicken and large oxtail for a total of $40 before tip (its still the no tax season here). When I tell you that oxtail fell right off the bone, phewww, beautiful, amazing and the oxtail gravy was bomb 10/10. The only reason i’m not giving it a 5 is because there was barely any gravy on the jerk meal, and it was a little dry, still tasty though. In terms of the service, initially there was a bit of an uncertainty about when we’ll get our food, which was so important because we were starving. It took about 20 minutes to get it in the end, which was okay. In terms of the space, like I said it’s primarily for takeout but there’s a bench where one can sit if you’re waiting inside. You could also wait in your vehicle if you came with one. Overall, for the food experience, I’ll definitely eat again and I would like to try other items on the menu. Unfortunately when we went, most things were out. So definitely would give it another shot. Sorry about the images, I remembered to capture the food halfway into eating

Parking: There’s some parking right in front of the restaurant and nearby

Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly, however, since it’s primarily a takeout spot, You can order the food and take have it at home,

Wheelchair accessibility: No. there’s a slight slope right in front and some steps at the entrance of the restaurant too.

This is not Jamaica food! Just in case you are wondering.

Ive tried the oxtail and curried goat and both were lacking flavours. Both meats were tender though but The taste was off or maybe I’m just not use to that taste. Don’t expect authentic Jamaican food and yes i know it’s ā€œCaribbean foodā€ but if you are looking for Jamaican food this is not the place. The rice and peas and patties were ok. Nothing to talk about. I would go back just for patties and a drink! Also the server/cook was rushing me because he said there were a lot of ppl coming in so i had to hurry and make my payment…it was almost like he was getting super annoyed because my friend and i were trying our time to order. It was our first time there btw! Didn’t appreciate that!

Also I found inside of the restaurant very untidy and didn’t look clean.

Hands down best spot, I've been to plenty of Caribbean and jerk chicken spots and not only does this place give you what you deserve but what you need. After eating the cooks food you feel a part of you that you've been missing, he has your best interest in heart and if you you're ever in the area make sure to take a step in to the restaurant. The beef patties are to die for
