Such a cozy, perfect spot for brunch. It’s a vibe! Great coffee, delicious hash browns.

Tried the sourdough pancake stack with whipped cream and it was delicious. The pancakes were soft, moist, and really well done. The hashbrown was also tasty, crispy on the outside and savoury inside. Portion size isn’t too big and the place was packed so I’d highly recommend making a reservation. Service was great too!

A must-visit spot in Ottawa!

Reservations are strongly recommended, though there are 4 bar seats available on a first-come, first-served basis for solo diners.

About two weeks ago, I visited Ottawa and was thrilled to discover DUKES, a cozy little house transformed into a charming, welcoming restaurant. I ended up going three times during my trip — it was that good! With a wide selection of breakfast and lunch options, this spot is perfect for any meal.

On my first visit, I tried the Mish Mash Hash. Beneath the perfectly cooked over-easy eggs was a delicious mix of sautéed vegetables, cheese, turkey, and pork.

Best breakfast in Ottawa! I enjoyed this even more than the brunch at Next. We ordered the Mish Mash hash and the steak and eggs, plus hash browns and beans on the side. Everything was delicious, but the hash browns were the star—absolutely amazing! The beans and sourdough toast were also standouts, and the coffee was excellent. My husband’s steak and eggs came with a delicious chimichurri sauce that elevated the dish. Even the blackened corn on the cob, with its zesty lime flavor, was a hit.
The service was fast and friendly, and the ambiance was perfect. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but every bite was worth it. Highly recommend—we’ll definitely be back!

Really unfortunate experience here. I’m not one to send food back or complain usually but I had ordered the smoked salmon salad.
Once it arrived it was a very small portion and severely dry that it was inedible.

Anyways I was going to order something else off the menu but our server never did a table check so my partner had finished his meal completely by the time she came around.

I expressed that the salmon was dry and that I just didn’t want it. I was offered more salad dressing, or a take out box, not can I get you something else instead or anything like that.

we asked for the bill and she explained that she removed the coffee from the bill but that she could not take the salad off as it’s a pricey menu item. Keep in mind I barely touched it. So we had to pay $25 for something that wasn’t even eaten but don’t worry our $3 coffee was taken care off.

Again I’m not one to usually complain and I’m more then understanding and was willing to still give my business to the establishment by choosing something else to eat but the lack of checking in and care left a bad taste in my mouth. Unprofessional staff with an attitude is not the way to go.

I gave a star because the interior was cute but the front door was off and actively being fixed while we were dinning which made the place smell like burning rubber. All in all, very upsetting experience. Wont be retuning.

Not what it used to be …..

My wife and I enjoyed a great brunch in November 2024 (our first time at Dukes after some very good previous experiences at the Corner Peach). My wife had gone to Dukes twice with friends since then – both delicious meals – and we were eager to go again. However, we were very disappointed with our brunch experience this past Sunday.

It did not start very well as we were seated at a table next to two very loud groups – it was extremely noisy and hard to talk without shouting. Then, we waited over 10 minutes before our server greeted us to take our order and it took another 45 minutes for our meals to arrive.

My wife ordered the steak and eggs – it was good. My meal was not very enjoyable at all. I was looking forward to the having the spicy eggplant sandwich on a potato bun that I had my first time here – but now it is a wrap and I was hard pressed to find any eggplant in the sandwich (it was mostly lettuce and tomatoes). The little bits of eggplant that were in the wrap were tasteless and definitely not as spicy as the first time. Also, there was so much sauce in the wrap that it was soggy and falling apart in my hands – one of my biggest pet peeves. As well, the accompanying salad was drowned in the dressing that again was not very tasty.

I did not finish my meal and our server did not seem to care very much when I gave her comments. After paying for our meal, the server ran away without asking me if I wanted a receipt. To top off the not so pleasant experience, my wife went to the washroom to discover no toilet paper in the stall. All in all, it was not a memorable experience and we will not be returning.

Went to Dukes for the first time for brunch with my the husband. We sat at the bar and I had the Bread Pudding French Toast and he had the Mish Mash Hash. The portions were just right. Not too much, not too little. Both meals were delicious and we left comfortably full. We love the retro decor as well. Service was attentive and very welcoming. This is definitely not the last time we will be visiting. Highly recommend Dukes!!

This place is quickly becoming a go-to spot for breakfast or lunch. They have all the classics you’d expect. As someone with a gluten intolerance, I’m happy to report the fryer is completely gluten free! There are GF bread options available as well. Great food, great vibes, can’t wait to go back soon.

About 2 weeks ago I visited the beautiful city of Ottawa. Little did I know that DUKES would be right around the corner. DUKES is a cozy little house transformed into a quant friendly restaurant. Dont miss this place, I went 3 times.... YOU won't be disappointed. There are so many options for breakfast & lunch.

For my first adventure, I ordered Mish Mash Hash. Under the over easy eggs, was a delicious mix perfectly cooked veggies, cheese with turkey and pork. The golden brown sour dough toast was the ultimate pairing.

My Canadian friend ordered the Breakfast Sandwich, well balanced flavors on the best potato bun.

Big shout out to the friendly staff of the day:

Krista, Chelsea and Sammy in the front of the house - teamwork is their jam.

Kat, Sara and Kris with Chef Blake in the kitchen whipping up all the deliciousness.

For my next adventure I ordered the Steak & Eggs. The homemade steak sauce was the kicker. Perfect cooked protein, and grilled corn were magical. Had to get toasted sour dough toast again too.

Today's awesome team was Hayley & Kali in the front with Emilia, Sam and Khushi witb Chef Blake in the kitchen.

For my final visit, I treated myself to The Breakfast Bowl. The homemade cowboy beans make this bowl sing. Don't forget the sourdough toast and avocado.

Hayley and Chelsea we there in the front of the house.

Emilia, Akira and Dakota with Chef Blake in the kitchen bring the dishes together.

***All bread comes from their sister business at Corner Peach*** We picked up some bread too for dinner.

Thank you to the DUKES Teams for the great start to my days. Cheers!!!! Until next time!!!

Go to DUKES!!!
