Last night my partner and I cane to Erlings Variety for dinner. We had never dined here and I wish we had sooner! We were celebrating my birthday and a celebration it was. We found all the food to be delicious, fresh, great flavour profiles and plated lovely too. I failed to remember our waitresses name but she took such great care of us and provided outstanding service. We were looking more of a special night out and Erlings Variety exceeded our expectations. It's so nice to be able to support real local restaurants that we can be proud of in our city.

Again, an evening out, just the two of us. Looked forward to some return to, must have, dishes. Instead of dessert, let's have one more shared plate. Gnocchi , why not! Some small bites, to finish off the meal. NO! One large gnocchi, filed with delicious cheese, swimming in a rich bath of creamy goodness. The crunchy exterior, creamy centre. And I had to share it.........next t8me she can get her own.

Drinks are very overpriced. Service is okay, but not attentive. Some of the dishes were good, but the scallops were overcooked and did not seem overly compatible with the puree--too sweet. Overall, not a place I would go back to for the price. The ambiance was very nice, but a bit dark as you have to strain to read the menu.

Had a fantastic lunch at Erling's - so glad they decided to open again for lunch on Fridays! Service was excellent, we got to interact with the chef and the food was delicious, as always. The Scallops were TO DIE FOR! Thanks for a great lunch!

We quite enjoyed our dinner - staff were very friendly and the service good, as was the atmosphere. The food was excellent for the most part but overpriced. Definitely worth a visit but not if budget is a primary consideration.

The food is great. I really enjoyed the mushroom vol-aux-vent and the arctic char salad. The desert was very much on the sweet side though. The wine by the glass and cocktails are good and reasonably priced. Overall decent cost for the quality of the meal. The ambiance and open kitchen is also great. Cozy and laid back with a unique character yet still feels class.

First time eating there with my boyfriend. We ordered five different plates to share, and were very full by the end of the night. The server was so pleasant, smiling and attentive, the dishes came out a the perfect pace. Let's talk about the food, all the flavors and textures were spot on! I really loved the artic char salad (super fresh), the gnoccis (very feeling, a little bit on the sweet side), the pork belly (very tasty and tender), the scallops were perfectly cooked although I found them expensive for the size. The duck confit was the only dish that I would not order again, but still a tasty dish! The only thing worth mentioning is the noise level. I didn't mind, but it was very loud.

We have been coming here 3-4 times a year for the past few years, thought I should leave some positivity. The food is always spot on, the chefs at this place are absolutely fantastic! I can’t even begin to describe the amount of heart and detail that goes into every dish that comes out of that kitchen, the best quality ingredients and care I have ever seen. The service is always 5 stars across the board; they are always so welcoming and down to earth. If we could afford it, I would come here weekly (not that it is too expensive, it’s just that good!).If you have never been here before, I highly recommend you come try it for dinner sometime. This hidden gem is a top spot in Ottawa for us and we recommend to everyone we can. Without hesitation, I’d try anything on the menu and guarantee satisfaction.Kudos to the staff at this place, and thank you for providing such a wonderful dining experience for us each and every time!

Had the most DELIGHTFUL experience last night! We decided to try out the happy hour and it has got to be the best in the city!!! The oysters were so fresh and the house made hot sauce was to die for. We were simply blown away by the duck tartar. The charcuterie board was a steal and the spicy pickled carrots have our hearts Enough about food, the service was phenomenal: friendly, knowledgeable, great recommendations and wonderfully accommodating about my food allergy. We didn’t have a reservation, but they squeezed us in. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect, great for a romantic date night. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for everything!

Great food! Amazing wine and the cutest spot! Love the open concept kitchen and very intimate spot. Tucked away hidden from busy bank street, truly a hidden gem! Must try is the devils on horseback, and the sunchoke ranch was so good! Great wine options and delicious cocktails. Will definitely be back!

We haven't had an amazing meal in Ottawa in a while until now. We catered our wedding in 2018 from Erling's Variety but haven't been back since then. We came for a date night and had the best meal in a long time. We even ordered two bowls of gnocchi it was that amazing.

Great service, delicious food, lovely ambiance. Have been multiple times. It can be a little loud when seated at the bar in a line (when more than 2 people). This isn't really an issue when seated at a table. Really lovely pacing. A great way to spend an evening.
