A local HK inspired cafe in the morning. I highly recommend the bolo bao with corned beef and egg. It was spicy and had a great kick! The french toast was also outstanding! Fried to golden perfection, drowned in syrup, topped with butter and filled with an amazing custard in the centre.I enjoyed the drinks but felt like the yuenyeung was a little sweet for me personally. The buns were ok. I think they were missing the signature fluffiness of a good asian bun. The dog in the hotdog bun was REALLY DELICIOUS but it leaned closer to a “pigs in a blanket” than a hotdog bun. I would skip on the egg tarts.Overall, this was a really good brunch/breakfast cafe!

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! The atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable, creating the ideal backdrop for a wonderful dining experience. The menu was a culinary delight, with each dish expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. The attentive staff made us feel like VIPs throughout our meal.

Great food and service every time I visit. Love the vegan options and the vegan Wednesday nights. I wish the five spice deep fried tofu bao was on the regular menu, not just on the vegan Wednesday night menu. The lion mane mushrooms on the vegan Wednesday night menu are great - even my non veg partner loves it. The mushroom congee on the regular menu is one of my all time favourite comfort food. The vegan chocolate pecan snack cake is surprisingly delicious and may be my favourite vegan dessert/baked good in Ottawa. The coconut bun could be softer and less sweet (speaking as someone who grew up with HK cocktail buns). The vegan brekkie sandwich on the breakfast menu is really good, but you could probably make that at home if you have the right ingredients.Vegetarian options: Vegan options on the regular menu. Wednesday nights are exclusively vegan.

A cute little corner shop with lots of hustle and bustle. The food is amazing, no matter what you order. The bao always arrive fluffy and perfectly made. They were even kind enough to make us a fresh pot of coffee.Vegetarian options: Multiple options, try the tofu belly bao!Parking: It's downtown and you might want to consider parking where you can and having a walk about. I can usually find parking within 5 minutes walk though

Gongfu Bao is my happy place. The food is amazing, the staff is so nice and attentive. My favorite spot in Ottawa. I recommend to arrive early, because once something is gone, is gone.

Gongfu Cafe - Balo with beef/egg, French Toast, Milk Tea, and YinYang. (Food was tasty; tea/coffee was weak with lot of sugar)It's a local spin on HK cafe (so don't assume it's authentic). The menu options are bit confusing since it doesn't follow western or HK convention (i.e. french toast with chips as opposed to congee with chips or french toast with fruit...). The Balo with beef/egg was tasty which felt like a variant of corned beef egg sandwhich but the Balo was gimicky and didn't add to the experience/taste (Balo crust was hard like a pie crust - just enough for ASMR if that's your thing + bun of burger as oppose to cake-like...maybe it's a unique spin on Balo based on local flavor).I probably didn't order enough, where they gave me the bill while I was still eating. I went from seating-to-door in 30-40 minutes. It was a rainy Saturday morning and no line so it's replicating the HK rush experience =) but staff was polite. The pricing was comparable to Denny's but portions were delicate. Overall, I'm confused if it's a seat-down spot to catchup with friends or quick bite; full breakfast or snack on a plate... but I assume they're still experimenting.

A small store that is overhyped by influencers. Price was on the verge of rip-off. $6 for an egg tart? You can get three for the same price in Chinatown. And beware that some nights are vegan nights. The fake meat/fake fish vegetarian bao dish is the same price as what the meat version costs.

Amazing!! Tried the brisket and the fried chicken and the fried chicken was so flavourful and fresh. The bao so soft. Service was great and quick.

We initially went there for their cafe option to try their Hk French toast but they ran out at 11. Given it was only 2 hours since they opened, it was a let down.We ordered their brisket noodle. Flavour was spot on but portion sizes for price were small. Not a lot of value for the time and money. Probably won't be going back until they can better manage their kitchen prep. Cmon it was only two hours into service.. and they ran out of bread for the French toast
