Our experience at this restaurant was simply wonderful! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and made to feel right at home. The atmosphere was cozy, and the menu boasted an array of enticing options. We placed our order, but unfortunately, there was a small error with one of the dishes. However, the staff handled it professionally and went above and beyond to make things right. Once we finally got our food, it was worth the wait—each dish bursting with flavor and expertly crafted. Despite the hiccup, the attentive service and delicious food made for an unforgettable evening. We'll definitely be returning soon!

My grand daughter had a Shirley Temple that was mostly ice. 3 sips and that was all. Her poutine was OK but not warm enough to meet the cheese that was at the bottom. My chicken was well cooked but not much taste of the cheese, the vegetables were mushy, overcooked and tastless. It was suppose to be a célébration dinner but frankly very disappointing.

My partner and I went here for drinks and food after staying in the hotel for the weekend. I was blown away by the incredible service, staff, and food. The bartender is exceptional. He was able to craft drinks that were not on the menu and weren’t recognized classics, but also the classic cocktails were elevated and the execution was perfect. When seated I noticed that we were walking toward a table with no table candle. Without even looking, the host pulled a light off an empty table and put it on ours. The food was flavourful, feels like it has a lot of thought and care put into it, and the menu is accommodating but not overwhelming. We will absolutely be back, if not for the service for the outstanding bartending!!!Vegetarian options: They have many flavourful vegetarian and vegan options

Amazing through and through. From the professionalism of the staff to the cozy and yet large atmosphere of both the bar and seating area, it's elegance hidden in a dreary city. The mixologist can produce a 10/10, form a French 75 to a Honey Trap, and the kitchen has a sensible enthusiasm for food. Breakfast, bruch, late lunch, and dinner are all available (with wide vegetarian accomodation) and all of the menus are worth tasting. The wait staff are also notably incredible. If you can't be at a Taj or Shang because your in Ottawa, this is the please to be.11/10

Amanda at the bar is a true gem! Her friendly demeanor creates a welcoming atmosphere, and her cocktail skills are unparalleled. Her friendly demeanor creates a welcoming atmosphere, and her talent shines through in every cocktail she crafts. The lavender martini, in particular, is a masterpiece, showcasing her skill in blending flavors to perfection. A visit to the bar becomes an experience of delightful drinks and genuine hospitality, thanks to Amanda's impressive mixology skills. Thank you Amanda, we will be back for more tonight!

Why doesn't Google allow for zero stars? The Christmas buffet...where to begin? First, the food quality. Frankly, it was almost funny, if it wasn't so awful. The turkey was dry, the cranberry sauce needed ANY amount of sugar, the gravy was watery and flavourless, the stuffing was soggy, the dinner rolls were dried out and the desserts, well I'm pretty sure they came from Costco. There was no option to order from the menu either. That's my fault...I should have researched the menu for the day but I assumed a hotel of the calibre of the Lord Elgin would put out a decent Christmas dinner menu. Should have gone to The Keg.The ambience...what ambience? It was like dining in a dimly lit cafeteria on a university campus. For this, we needed a reservation? The music was too loud and it wasn't even seasonal music. The service...our server was passable but how long does a buffet plate have to stay on the table before it's collected? Too long. My husband came back with his second plate and the first one was still there. And then the price...$178 of regret, and my husband only drank soda water. Maybe I should have had a second martini to forget the disaster that was this Christmas dinner.Spare yourself the pain...go to The Keg, The Social, The Courtyard...anywhere but Forty One.

Christmas Day dinner extremely disappointing. A very memorable dinner, but not in a good way. We have stayed at the Lord Elgin and ate at Forty-One, we had a wonderful experience back then. The food at the buffet table was down to small amounts remaining in the containers. We had scraps to try and scrounge up. The main dishes, the cheeses and meats were down to scraps. The presentation was not there, everything was picked apart. Same with the dessert table. It was not at all worth $60.00 a person to eat whatever was left from other people. Our first servings came across as quantity, presentation and temperature as leftovers. The one thing we will say is the waiter was great, very courteous and attentive to us.

$178 of pure regret. The food quality was laughable - a buffet, dry turkey, horrible cranberry sauce, soggy stuffing and I think the desserts were from Costco. The service was barely passable. It took 15 minutes after being seated to be asked if we wanted drinks. The ambience... It was like eating in a dimly lit university cafeteria...very noisy and the music wasn't even seasonal. Never will I return to the Lord Elgin for anything. Utterly disappointing and no. I don't want to give them a chance to “make it right”. That's 40 minutes of my life I'll never get back. But if they want to refund it, I'll tell them where to send the cheque. Don't waste your money.
